Lol, SHM, I'm so glad you are letting this happen. I know what Tantive7 means. I was a horrible and arrogant poster when I started here (not too long ago, but still) and got banned... twice, I think? I am also grateful to be here, and not causing much trouble at all. I obey the rules and try to make good posts. So, thank you, T7. You had the balls to say all this .

I'm not a veteran not like SHM, Toon, Tantive, War Chief, Fox, Harley and many others, but I feel that i've earned the respect of the vets and other members on this forum. It's hard to enjoy this forum like I used to before, now all we have is stupid topics and stupid n00bs. I mean seriously does anyone know how to have an intellegent arguement or conversation anymore? All i see is "blah blah blah something offensive and has nothing to do with the topic." We are the last of a dying breed of good posters...you know who you are. I miss the days of Tantive's impact posts in any topic I could find, Toon's amazing sig making, SHM threatning n00bs with tackhammers.....We can start now and rebuild it won't be like the old forum, but we can make it enjoyable. I'm sick and tired of stupid n00bs ruining a forum with stupid arguements and stupid threads. It seems like everyone has forgot this forum is about THE WARRIORS, not "What's the most embarrasing thing that has happened to you?" or "What's your weirdest dream?" I find it sad that off-topic threads get more people posting and no talks of the Warriors movie. I know my post wasn't the greatest, but i'm hoping that it shows the vets who check in every now and then that we can make this place what it once was a haven for real Warriors fans and not just for n00bs. I am not even close to a veteran, as you can tell by my postcount, but I have been on some damn good forums before. I can tell you that when I joined up here, I saw rampant idiocy and unenforced rules like nothing else. I left for awhile, barely making twenty posts. I came back, and saw that things were starting to change. I posted my first piece of fan fiction, which people liked, so I decided to stay for good.

Then, shortly thereafter, War Chief brought the banhammer down. Suddenly the forums were cleansed of the bad elements, and extreme newbies relegated to the Proving Grounds. It was only then that I became a very active member. Since then, I can say that I have gained the respect of most people. However, I have been seeing a marked decline in quality on here recently.

It seems that nobody knows how to use the search function, nobody knows how to read the rules, and... well, in general, most new people don't know how to be a good poster in general. Nobody cares about the 50000000th iteration of "Who was Luther talking to?". Nobody wants to read your posts if they are full of AOL speak and typos.

I do disagree with the sentiment that off topic posts are bad. Really, we are talking about a 30 year old movie here. It hasn't had any new info released since the game in 2005. We're going to run out of topics for discussion eventually. Besides, I like learning more about my compatriots. For example, I learned a hell of a lot in the religion thread I started a little while back. Of course, it was closed after about ten posts for fear of people getting into insulting religious debates, but I learned quite a bit about people that I otherwise would have known nothing about. I believe that O/T topics are a good thing to have.

That's my opinion on this whole matter. I think that we need the banhammer to be taken out once again. Let it rain destruction against the rule-breakers and the insulting posters. That's how I feel, anyway.

Now I'm gonna head over to the proving grounds to look at the 400th "Who's your favourite Warrior?" thread...

What I don't think is fantastic basically comes down to three things: poorly thought out and/or repetitive topics; weak "me too" replies; and posts written in textspeak (save that for your cell phone and for Instant Messenger).

We've already discussed numerous times who would win in a fight between (movie character) and (other movie character), or between The Warriors and (gang from another movie). There are already numerous existing polls where you can choose and even discuss who your favorite Warrior is - there is no need to start an identical topic.

A lot of you don't search and start a new topic that has already been discussed dozens of times, yet most of you will say you did search. Did you really search? Did you search more than one keyword, or just try one word and if nothing came up figured we haven't covered it? You know what really helps to see if something has been discussed before? [glow=red,2,300]Take some time to flip back through some of the old pages of threads.[/glow] As of right now, there are close to 90 of them, with lots of great discussions. [glow=red,2,300]Go ahead, read them![/glow] Chances are, no matter how great or original your idea seems, we've discussed it or something like it before. If you don't have the time or interest to research some of the things we've discussed here, on the ultimate Warriors forum (heck, the ultimate forum of any kind as far as I'm concerned), how can you call yourself a Warriors fan? 

Do you agree with a post someone made? Fine. Don't just say "I agree", "Good topic" or "Me too". Add something to the conversation. We're not a bunch of business execs here loooking for a yes man. Give us some input as to why you agree. Bring something to the table. If it's a debate, and you voice your opinion, let us know why you think so. There used to be a rule here about no weak five-word replies here, but I see it all the time. Most of the people who have been here for a while know better than to do that, but some of the newer ones don't. [glow=red,2,300]This is not a chatroom. [/glow] It's a discussion forum, and you will never be taken seriously by saying "me too".   :doubt: Discuss - don't chat. WHY DO YOU LOVE THE WARRIORS?     

Finally, the whole textspeak issue. Most of you using this don't realize that, but it's difficult to read and just plain rude. Trying to read some of the posts here that are written that way is like trying to listen to someone talk with a mouth full of oatmeal. I realize that not everyone is the greatest at spelling, and that sort of thing is overlooked here. At least try to use complete words. AND DON'T MAKE ALL OF YOUR POSTS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE THAT'S ALSO ANNOYING!

Basically, it comes down to this: Let your love for the Warriors be reflected in the quality of the posts you make. Yes, you reach Warrior rank at 250 posts, but that doesn't mean anything if your posts aren't any good. Focus on really saying something. 'K?    8)

I'm putting myself in the line of fire guys. Hope I don't screw this up

Everyone of us has that primitive need for survival inside. People can go to great lengths while trying to preserve their existence and of those who are close to them. It's a basic instinct we inherited from our ancestors and something that demonstrates our strong bonds with the place we came from. We can think of ourselves as masters of the Earth but in a way or another we are all trying to get through all our osbtacles and problems.

For me, that's what The Warriors is all about. It takes the very core of the human individual and puts it into action in such a rivetting story that we just have to watch it over and over again. We have gangs, turfs, colours, friend and foe, fights and the desperate need to survive. The most basic aspects of human behaviour are there, along the way back to Coney.

I remeber watching this movie for the first time. I tought 'why haven't I watched it before?' I was absolutly mesmerized by this epic one-night quest to return home. Return to something that wasn't that good. But it was home. And that's why they fought, flexed muscle and were so damn proud of being the Warriors. This was their place and nobody would take them down here.

We can be students, teachers, bartenders, house-wifes or anything else you can imagine. Everyone can relate to the feelings the movie talks about family, death, pride, respect, victory. We can be concrete-dwelling beings numbed by advertising and political manipulation but we still have something of what made us great. These basic, inner principles that define us as human beings are still here. They can be buried deep in our souls but once in a while something appears that makes all of that come to the surface. The Warriors is certainly one of those things.

Are you wondering how an action-flick could mean so much? Look around. Look at the enthusiasm of the people who participate in this forum. They know it. This family/group/gang are true Warriors in their hearts. Because they know what being a Warrior is all about. Maybe one day I'll deserve to be a part of it. I'm still a newbie with a long way to go.

I came to this forum because it was a place were I could be in contact with true fans of the phenomenom that is The Warriors. I try to post and discuss. I'm definitely not the best poster around but I do my part. Do yours too and help this forum be something we're all proud of being a part of.
