Check this out

Post by JD »

After watching The Warriors today i watched the old breakdancing movie Beat Street and one of the characters "Charlie" made me think . Watch when the Panzers are walking (after the conclave) and look at the guy to the right of the leader , he looks exactly like "Charlie" from Beat Street . Coincidence ? maybe .

But I had to keep in mind something , Rembrandt was on a Kids T.V show called 3,2,1 Contact in the 70s and
Leon W. Grant  (Charlie) was also a cast member of the same show . I think it may be him and with that connection being a factor it would only make sense.

Now i've tried searching the web for info but i found nothing , most likely because Leon's roll in The Warriors was a 2 second scene .

Anyone care to discuss?

Interesting observation you got there.  Who knows, anything is possible.  It might be that  Suburb style of the 1970's that might make people appear to have that same appearance.  The city life is full of Bohemian people, which are people who do not live under the best of conditions, but they live only to express themselves and the world in an artistic manner.  Whether its painting, sculpting, philosophy, dancing, writing, or singing, even martial arts etc., they hope that people will notice them and they will make careers out of their lives.  They live from hand to hand, which means they just focus on their work and hope someone can observe their art work, no matter how poor they are.  Thats what guys like Rembrandt and Charlie from Beat Street remind me of.  Two artists looking to make something of themselves in struggling times, living every artistic moment of their lives to the fullest.  This world is full of Bohemians, so who knows if its the same guy.  Excellent point.

I always thought that was Chollie from "Beat Street" too..lol..interestingly enough, Chollie (Leon W. Grant) appears in the movie "The Wanderers" as well, as a member of the Del Bombers Street Gang, since both movies came out around the same time, who knows? it could be him man...good observation. Leon also appeared on "3-2-1 Contact", the same show Ginny Ortiz (Warriors Candy Store Girl) was in.

You can see Leon in the movie/vhs poster for "Beat Street" (1984 Harry Belafonte N.Y.C breakdance film) below, he is pictured Second from left.
