very very cool, man. Nice work. That's my old 'hood in NYC. I lived on 100th st and my window is in the film! (still have the apt. am currently subletting it!) One slight thing. The shot at 15:00 in when you see the warriors running from left to right, then down the little stairs and back to the left with furies in the same shot chasing them is actually a few blocks down from where you shot it. It's at approximately 98th st. There is no railing on the path there. I think you shot that scene around 103rd or so.
Other than that it's right on, man!

:)   peace!

Glad you liked the documentary. Thanks for the information regarding the correct location of the "chase" scene. When I shot it I thought that since it had been nearly 30 years, that they put a railing up there.
Anyway, I will just edit it out of my master copy, which I have saved on my computer, and when I go back and film part 2 which will include Turnbull AC's chase, The Orphans, candy store, and the Lizzies hangout(if I can ever find out where it is), and more, I will take a return trip back to the area and include the 98th St path. Thanks again.

Yeah good stuff, the best bits for me were the scene of the Furies chase. I really thought those guys were going to come over that hill, because you got the angle spot on. I also really enjoyed the graveyard pictures, I tell you why - because there was no people.
I'm betting that shooting the graveyard and the meeting areas were the most poignant for you.
I think if you got up very early and shot Coney with no people, not only would it have been more focused for us, but it would have been much more powerful experience personally. Trying to be a bit constructive here, I'm a photographer - hope you understand.

Thanks coney.........Yeah, it would have been cool to get Coney before alot of people were there but I only had about 6 hours to get all of the locations and if you have ever been to NYC and taken a subway, you know it can take awhile to get from location to location. I will be going back to shoot part 2 and maybe I will take a trip to Coney early on.
I would say that the graveyard was the most exciting part of my day and yes, the fact that there were no people there was very helpful. Also, the fact that nothing has changed was the best thing about that location. The way it was in the film is the way it is now, with the exception of the "prop" gravestone that Swan hid behind.
Before I left for NYC I had planned out my route to the second and also made sure that I wrote down little notes about certain angles I needed like the Furies chase scene. Some angles came out good and some I wish I could do over but overall I am very happy with what was actually my very first time I picked up a video camera to shoot something as extensive as that. Thanks again.

You did an AWESOME job, man!
Are you gonna shoot some more..?
The 14th street subway station lookd pretty much the same.
Also I believe they filmed alot of the orphans turf in Brooklyn. I believe on the "j", "m" line...?
If you look in the film, you can see the train letter.
Wish I was back in NYC! We are most likely moving back in august! I miss my old apt. on The Warriors block!

Peace!    d

Great documentary.  It's good to see the locations now and the comparison with the movie.

Yes, I will be shooting a part 2 sometime this year. I am drawing a total blank here but what was the 14th st subway station used for in the film? What scene?

That was my big thing with making the documentary. I didnt just want to show the locations, I wanted to have a side by side comparison. That allowed me to NOT have to do an audio commentary over the film to let you know what you were looking at. I figured if you are a Warriors fan then you would know what you would be looking at without having my big mouth telling you. Lol.
I always intended to have a video to video comparison from the start. The picture to picture comparison came later as I was editing it together. I will do the same when I shoot part 2.

When Swan finishes walking through the tunnel and he is walking along the platform where the skater guy was stalking him, that is the 14th street 4,5,6 station. scenbe with him walking up stairs while train goes past him

Don't you just love it when newbies try to pad their post count with complete stupidity?

To F1967, this is awesome. Absolutely awesome. I have one thing to ask though. Would it be possible to get a better quality version? I can barely make out what's going on in that Windows Media Version that everyone's favourite admin posted up there. I'm not asking for high def or anything, but a version where everything doesn't look like a blob on fullscreen would be super awesome. I would watch it in normal mode, but then the whole screen is about an inch across and you can't make anything out anyway.

Other than that, this is one of the best things to come out of this site so far this year. Congratulations. :D

War Chief did the best he could with what I sent him. I somehow was only able to send small files which is why the quality isnt that great. I am just happy that he was kind enough to post it up on the board for all to see.

Anyway, thanks. It was hard work but everyone's kind words makes it all worth it.

BTW....Check your messages.
