The original Star Wars will always rule. Although The Warriors is one of my top 10 favourite movies ever, i think the directors cut was a bad idea. The tv version should have been released.

Well these movies are on totally two different levels, but yet similar.  After all just like George Lucas, Walter Hill based the story on old ancient stories.  I mean Lucas uses examples from Jason and the Argonaughts, old Samurai stories, world war 2, and political issues of today, and yesteryear, the Bible etc.  Hill obviously uses the Battle of Cunaxa.  So Perhaps this is why both films have such an impact.  They are a collection of ancient stories, re-imagined for a new era.  I am not sure, thats my take on it.  I believe they are old imagination, combined with new ideas our brains have developed over the years.  Think about it, while the galactic empire represents Nazis, and the rebellion of mixed species represents the U.N.  Cyrus is like a modern day Ghandi, or Dr.King, and Luther is like Lee Harvey Oswald, while the warriors are modern day underdogs, trying to get away from all the hatred.  I suppose thats why these movies never go away.

dude, that was something well said man! i fully agree with you... it makes real genuine sense... and both movies really do rock...maybe if walter hill had made a sequel back then it would make a great trilogy...for example, The Warriors Episode II : Return of The Furies...

that was just made up and i guess that's just some more crap from me...  ;)
