deleting threads, members have too much power

Post by haterist »

hey all,
i find it odd/annoying when i post in a thread, then all of the sudden the thread just disappears off the face of the planet and i know its not the mods/admins doing the deleting but the members themselves.

perhaps i'm the only one who thinks this but isn't that a lot of power for a member to have?  most messageboards don't allow members to delete an entire thread, they can only edit their posts but its up to the mod/admin to delete what is off topic or inappropriate.

anyone else share my POV?  your thoughts?

dnt worry... i dnt plan on deletin it anytime soon... i luv it... even though i dnt post in it anymore... i still luv it  :D :D :D

Which got me to thinking - if someone deletes an entire thread (and therefore, all of the posts in it), and it's a thread you've posted in, does that lower your "Number of Posts" in your profile (since it would erase your posts as well as the others)?
thats why i brought up this issue.
when someone deletes a thread it in fact DOES lower your post count.  i know cause i was a warriors for like 2 minutes before a member deleted a thread.
not that post counts really matter, i could really care less but it sucks when you go back to a thread to read the replies and its gone all of the sudden.  :|

would any of the mods or admins care to address this?

I changed it so that members can not delete their accounts (as has happened in recent weeks by accident).

I have also changed it so that only people with 250+ posts (Warrior rank) can delete topics.

Thats a great Idea becuase it can get annoying some members dont know how to use power when they have it
