Warriors screening in Brooklyn August 24! (Gathering anyone?)

Hi all, I haven't been here in quite a whiles, hope everyone is doing OK!

I did a search and didn't see anyone post this, so just in case, here's the scoop.

The other day, NYC's various "outdoor cinema" schedules were released, that's all the films that will be shown outdoors at various times during the summer, at various places. NYCers who have been to at least one of these know that it is a great experience, watching a cool flick (often for free) on a nice summer night. The ones at Bryant Park in Manhattan are especially popular, often getting a huge crowd.

The Warriors will be shown as the "finale" at Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, in Brooklyn. here is a rundown (cut and paste from the article I read) on what the place is like (I have never been there before but have walked past it and also have seen it from above plenty of times walking across the bridge, looks like a cool place).

MOVIES WITH A VIEW

Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, Brooklyn

The scene: A breathtaking view of the lower Manhattan skyline competes with watching classic films right under the Brooklyn Bridge. Deejays spin movie music before screenings, and food is sold courtesy of Rice restaurant. There's also free valet parking - for bicycles, that is.

The schedule: This summer's theme is "Movies in Motion" - Hollywood movies dealing with road trips, journeys and other travels, every Thursday night. "The Wizard of Oz" starts things off on July 6, followed by such familiar titles as "Easy Rider" (July 13), "Bonnie and Clyde" (Aug. 10) and the New York cult flick "The Warriors," which ends the series on Aug. 24.

How to get there: Take the A or C to High St., the F to York St. or the 2/3 to Clark St. and follow the signs to the waterfront. The New York Water Taxi from Manhattan stops at Fulton Ferry Landing around the corner from the park. Or just walk across the bridge.

.....how about an idea? Any other NYC-area boppers into maybe getting together for the flick? I did suggest a while ago that maybe during the summer sometime, NYC-area fans can get together and hang out, maybe re-create the ride to Coney, and take a group pic in front of the mural, representin' the forum lol, and that will still be great to do, but this is a different thing especially since it is a weekday. Maybe a few of us can hook up after work and catch the flick. I'll post a reminder as the film gets closer!

And let's still think about that basic get together one of these summer weekends!
