  I like all the Warriors's names but I always thjought it would be kind of cool to name Cleon Ares instead. I doubt it would affect the plot or anything, it just makes more since to me. It could've helped to further emphasize the Greek reference like using Ajax does and it seems apropriate to name the leader of the Warriors after the god of [glow=red,2,300]starting and fighting [/glow] wars.
 
  I also think it could work becuase I'm pretty sure they weren't just referencing the warriors who served in Xenophon's army during the Persian Gulf War becuase Cochise was named after a great Native-American warrior, wasn't he? Then again, if that's true, I guess you could use the god of war from other cultures to, huh?
 
  Anyway, I just think Ares would be a good name for Cleon too, but that's just my opinion. What does everyone else think or do you have name suggestions for any other characters in the film?

Cleon was the name of another Greek general who died in battle, so it's appropriate.  I checked the name out and it means "famous, renowned".  I wonder if anyone ever named their son Cleon after seeing "The Warriors".

Scurvy Dog:  I agree, I would never do that, because if there's a fad for an unusual name it always dates people which can be pretty embarrassing as they get older!  (How many little Keanus toddling about now, for example?  ).  People will do it, though.

I just wondered about Cleon;  I don't think it would be obvious to most people if the name was inspired by the film, and I'm continually surprised by the number of people I meet who've never seen it.  I've never met a Cleon yet, and I doubt any Cleons would feel as bad as poor Metallica probably does!

Names can be tricky but Cleon has some history behind it, it sounded good in the movie and it sounds good now.  It would only seem geeky to us because we watch the movie so much and know the reference, but someone just naming their kid Cleon it wouldn't be so bad.  It's a unique name that isn't trendy and it would sound great when the kid grew up at least I think so.

Yeah, Karma and compliments 8)! thanx. I looked up Cleon and found that it is a pretty common name but I never knew it was the name of greek general. Guess, you learn something new everyday.
