Why weren't the Gramercy Riffs lying in wait for the Warriors at Union Square? It borders Gramercy. The Riffs knew the Warriors would be passing through there. The Warriors did not yet know they were suspected of shooting Cyrus, so they would have no qualms about being that close to Riffs turf.

The Riffs could have used the Lizzies to lure the Warriors into a trap.

Then again, if the Riffs had been there, the Warriors would have been dead before it became known that Luther had shot Cyrus. Unless of course, at the last minute, the informant came forward - and the Rogues got their fatal beatdown at Union Square.

Any thoughts on this?

This has kinda been brought up before with the question of how exactly could the Riff's patrols have missed the Warriors.  All they really had to do was send people to the stations and wait. 

I think if the Warriors bopped with the Riffs at Union Station it would have been anti-climactic. Also, if some of the Riffs got wasted it would have given the Riffs a legitimate reason to rumble with the Warriors at the end.

I think the Riffs where too lazy, they didnt go out searching for them they sent all gangs to find them. Dont you think?

Ya u bring up a good point But I think the reaon why the riffs didnt attack the warriors because at the time they were calling them a small outfit. So the riffs wanted to get them but they didnt think it was important to send out ther own soldier to fight not thinking that they would have bopped past all of those gangs in the first place. So Masie was thinking they cant rumble that well just let the Turnbulls, baseball Furies or the punks take care of them but he was wrong once they proved there self to be tough

The Riffs never had to send out any of their own patrols in pursuit of the Warriors. They were classed as a 'small outfit' at the time and there was only 9 of them too. Think about it, would you be able to get from one end of New York to the other with 8 other guys when you've got every gang in NewYork, about 70 000 odd guys, trying to kill you, therefore getting ther reputation sky high, and also the gangs wouldnt only be looking for them because of rep and what the Riffs told them to do,'cause most of the gangs bought what Cyrus was saying and would genuinly want to take reveng on the Warriors.

if i'm the leader of the biggest gang in the city, and i basicly have "the armies of the night" at my beck, and call, i'm not gonna bring attention to my outfit, by involving my own soldiers, in the search!
i'm gonna sit back, and wait for them to be brought to me.

especially, after that big fiasco at the meeting!
the cops know who Cyrus was, and who what gang he controlled.
who do you think the cops went and hassled, and questioned first, after the meeting?
i'm guessin the Riffs!! LOL
i would only have sent out a few of my soldiers, after that too!

but Masai didnt count on the warriors being bad-ass enough, to bop they're way through, every gang in the city!  :badgrin:

For real.  People tend to forget that the other groups combined would easily outnumber the Riffs.  The Riffs were not in a desperate situation or anything.  Of course they wanted the Warriors bad, but they knew there were plenty of other groups that would've  loved to bring them the Warriors' heads to score points.  On a side note, I wish, wish, wish, that at some point, Cleon's headress would've  made an appearance.

Well, I think a bit of reverse psychology was used here to lengthen the film. Naturally, the Warriors would go to Union Square to change trains for Brooklyn, however, this would have been the most obvious move for them. Therefore, if I am a Riff, I would not go looking for them in the most obvious place, regardless if it bordered Gramercy Park or not, because I would think that the Warriors would know that every gang will be there at the Union Square subway station waiting for them, cause they know this is the place to change trains, so why would the Warriors bother to go there?....there are many ways to get from borough to borough in N.Y.C, so maybe the Riffs felt there was no need to send too many of their patrols out, because they had consolidated the gangs at the conclave, under the Riff umbrella, so these gangs would do the dirty work and try and find the fleeing Warriors.
