GTA-style Wild West Game

Post by War Chief »

Why can't they make a decent first person wild west shooter, where you get to travel around on horseback, and have cool weapons like bows and arrows, hand guns etc. I know red dead revolver was a good game, but it was 3rd person and very arcade-like.

I can just imagine a GTA-style game set in the Wild West where you can mug people and rob stagecoaches. Does such a game exist already?

The only thing that would be a slight problem with your quite amazing idea is that with GTA u can get different cars that are faster than each other and u can tell them apart from one another... well maybe u could have some horses hung better than each other (the smaller ones would go faster because they have less weight but people would shoot at you because ur horse is crap compared to their horse). Wow that was a pointless waste of a perfectly decent post by me

Maybe you could have a stagecoach with 2 horses, 4 horses etc. Real variations in horse-power!

I'll check out GUN, thanks for the pointer. I watched Back To The Future III last night  ;)

Again an excellent point but it isnt really fair having the big strong numerous horses go faster (its usually the smaller nimbler ones in GTA that r faster) then again you could just have different sort of tags on the horses to tell them apart

Good point, for example different indian war paint maybe, to differentiate the differnt horse types. For example some would eb small and fast, some would perhaps be more stable on rough terrain, some would be stronger and more resistant to arrows or bullets, and then theres coaches as well. I like the concept.
SUPER HAPPY PINEAPPLE MAN!

yeah I'm surprised you didn't know the game xisted, WC.

but about the horses thing, you can buy diferent breeds with different stats, like a purebred or something thats great but is really hard to tame and costs lots of money, or an Indian pony (with those handprints on it) that runs really fast but has lower HP. Or a "wild stallion" that is very rare but has fantastic stats all around... You could have different types, actually it's a pretty cool idea....

If they made GUN 2, on the PS3 they could expand the territory greatly, which was my main complaint with the first. I mean, you'd have a lot of moments where you are just riding through the desert for an hour, but thats what the West was like! they should have it take place on the Mexican/American Rio Grande border like Wild Bunch and Fistful of Dollars.

yeh GUN has a way to small "world" to explore. they should of made it the same size as one of the GTA games and whats the point in having a biiiiig train track alll around the map...if you only see a train once  its still a good game though ;)

As long as it's not on the GTA engine (Horrible gunplay engine), then I could imagine greatness.

Check out Wanted! modification for Half-life. It's a linear story, but it's pretty cool. Nice variety of weapons, too.

yeah it was a good game but way too short i beat it in about 5 hours. but what i thought was shit was scalping. i mean it cost money to buy a scalping knife but if you did it there was no point to it. i thought you could sell the skin to indians for cash or something but i couldnt manage to work out how.  neway dont buy it, rent it or borrow it.
