Is Ajax dead?
Is Ajax dead?
I've always wondered why it is that when the police arrest Ajax the rest of the gang refer to him in the past tense "I'll bet he went out swingin" or in the deleted scenes "He made a mistake. Its the way he was" does anyone know why excatly that is? When Snowball and Cowboy tell the rest of the gang in the subway their reaction is one of grief. I know we talked about this before but I don't think it was concluded. He mightn't be put away for that long: the cop on the bench was pure entrapment and the regular cops came at him with nightsticks drawn so there after it was self defense.
When we see the ocean we figure were home, were safe.
Is Ajax dead?
There is no way Ajax is dead, nevertheless he has to do some time in jail. While it is true that we know for sure what happened to Fox and Cleon (the latter only for what is written in the script) there is no way we can assume that Ajax has passed. In fact, this incident opens the doors for a great sequel. Imagine Warrios II with an Ajax coming back to reclaim his post as Warlord! Or at least to become a higher rank member.

When was Ajax Warlord? I think he was ranked about as high as he was gonna get. You can't have a hot head like that in charge..ex. Joe Pesci in Goodfellas.Imagine Warrios II with an Ajax coming back to reclaim his post as Warlord! Or at least to become a higher rank member.
Is Ajax dead?
I meant to say that he demanded to be Warlord. Eventhough he was a hot head, he had the balls to fight anybody for that position, including Swan.GonzoNYC wrote:When was Ajax Warlord? Is Ajax dead?
While Ajax isn't dead, I'm thinking that the cops were onto the Warriors for while. They were big enough to get invited to the conclave, so they must have been known by cops as well. So when they nabbed Ajax they figured they hit paydirt.
Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage...

Oh man Gonz, I can actually hear Ajax speaking like Pesci........."Do I look like a clown to you"GonzoNYC wrote:When was Ajax Warlord? I think he was ranked about as high as he was gonna get. Well, mate, at this point everything is possible........Scurvy Dog wrote:
If the "bounty" was still out on the Warriors, it would have reached the jails where the arrested gang members were being held. Every gang member there would have known he was a Warrior, and at that time, their name had not yet been cleared (assuming he got put into his "shared" cell around the time the Punks fight was going on).
He was possibly taken to Rikers Island, since that place would be big enough to hold everyone who was caught, at least until their trial. It's very possible Ajax was in that kind of situation - and shanked, or had his head bashed into the bars, or otherwise killed in nasty ways - but the movie doesn't answer that question.
What do YOU think happened to him?

Re: Is Ajax dead?
I wanna think that someone got to him. Being that it took all night to clear the Warriors name, gangs stuck in there with him would of heard that they were after the Warriors and being that Ajax was one of them, I am sure there was a cowboy around there who tried to get his name or gang big and therefor took in his hands to kill Ajax.

He probably lost his colors right away. He told people he was in for embezzlement.Lions wrote: I wanna think that someone got to him. Re: Is Ajax dead?
I think they talked about him in the past tense because they would not see him for a while. I think attempted rape and hitting an officer would put him away for a very long time. Plus knowing Ajax, he would've started trouble while inside.Irishfan wrote: I've always wondered why it is that when the police arrest Ajax the rest of the gang refer to him in the past tense "I'll bet he went out swingin" or in the deleted scenes "He made a mistake. Good point, I guess the cops did everything to avoid anymore fights from happening.emissary wrote:He probably lost his colors right away. Re: Is Ajax dead?
yeah, I think it's cause Ajax was not going to see the light of day for a long time. I also feel, in some deeper way, The Warriors knew this might be the beginning of the end for them, not so much that some other gang would eliminate them, but that all this fighting, protecting their turf, etc. got them nowhere in life, especially when it came to them having no money and not being productive. Listening to Snowball and the rest of the guys talk about how Cyrus was gonna do this and that on the way back, further reiterates my point. I think the climax is when Swan says maybe he will take off, I figure he was smart enough to know that this is as far as the Warriors could go. Just my opinion.

Couldn't agree with you more Nite Run.
I think Swan and Mercy are the only characters who really undergo transformation over the course of the film. The rest of the remaining 7 delegates still seem too imature to realize they're on a path to nowhere. It would be sad to find out that Swan took over as Warchief and stayed with the gang. In my own extended Warriors universe, all the delegates find a way to get out before its too late.
Back on topic, I'd like to believe Ajax died in jail or never got out. It just seems like the fitting end to a character who had such compelling tragic flaws. In my mind he gets cuffed and carted away to that place great tragic heros go to become legends for generations to come. The Ajax character is kicking back and guzzling brews with the likes of Hercules, Sampson, Achilles - all awesome warriors who were undone by some combination of arrogance, pride, lust and rage.
