How did Swan know it was Luther?
Here's something that always bugged me, sorry if it's been discussed already and I missed it: How did Swan know it was Luther that shot Cyrus? The only guy who saw Luther do it was Fox, and he got squashed by a train.
I can only presume the Fox told the others at some point, but they never show that. It just never comes up until the final scene on the beach when Swan somehow knows that the guy standing in front of him is the guy who shot Cyrus.

IT was a Riff problem, and the fact that the Rogues actually tracked them from the subway, and came into their own home turf to "get rid of them" told him straight out, that the Rogues were working for themselves----NOT the Riffs-so it had to be them, who were trying to eliminate the Warriors.
And when they followed them down to the sand, it was too obvious to miss.
The Warriors knew they had NOT killed Cyrus---so whoever did would be the ones that would want them bad enough to come after them at home.
And the gun was pretty obvious tell too.

I had always thought The Fox told the others at some point before he died. That's why Rem is surprised when he learns The Warriors are thought to have shot Cyrus.

Good points Ranchgal. It occurred to me that Swan may have used his street smarts to intuit what was going on. The gun doesn't come out until after Swan accuses Luther though. And I don't know that the Rogues' appearance on Coney Island necessarily precludes them from working for the Riffs...they might have just been after the bounty.

How did Swan know it was Luther?
i thought the Lizzies also accused the Warriors? if i recall correctly after rembrandt's group gets outta there they discuss how everyone thinks they shot cyrus and how every gangs gonna be looking for them? so im sure one of them coulda told swan also...with or without the fox getting hit by the train. Though Swan does have good street smarts i agree, like when the punks are following him and he knows before Mercy blows his cover.

Yes, but knowing that all of NYC is after the Warriors and knowing that Luther was the guy who shot Cyrus are two different things. The Lizzies didn't know anything about Luther, so Rembrandt and the guys couldn't have found out about Luther from them.

I figure the Lizzies know from listening to the radio DJ. Swan probably just deduced that Luther was wacko enough to be the one. I guess Fox coulda had time at some point to tell before he got killed since the camera didn't cover every minute to that point.

This thread makes me think about that cemetary scene. They assumed the truce was off but it seems that every other gang had this unified effort to get the Warriors. Why wouldn't it come up then? (Luther's killing of Cyrus) Anyway, I think for Swan to tell Luther straight faced that he knew he did it, I have to assume Fox told them and we didn't see it.

Well I am sure I remember reading in the ORIGINAL script, that Fox does tell them, but in the actual movie, he never does that we see---but I agree it certainly would have made sense to say something!!

i think as swan became the leader ,he must of been a pretty switched on and clever guy so he would have assumed that luther was the one ,also to have a gang come on your turf from a different part of town would make you suspicious as too why they are their ,thats why swan picked up on the fact it was the rogues ,ive never read the book so thats how i interpret it from the movie

THE ORIGINAL DA-WARRIOR!!!!

To me, when Swan says "why'd'ja do it" to Luthor, I always took it that Swan meant why did the Rouges do it as a whole, and not just Luthor personally. So he was addressing their leader Luthor, the guy who you would definitely address in that situation, and stated it as he did, instead of saying "why did one of you guys shoot Cyrus."
This is taking that Swan didn't know Luthor specifically shot Luthor, which I don't believe he did. But when Luthor says "I just like doing things like thyat" he seems to be speaking about himself, so that told The Warriors that he pulled the trigger. And when he finally takes out the gun, that seals it.
I could be wrong though, maybe Swan did know it was specifically Luthor, I just don't think he did.

I still don't believe The Fox saw Luthor shoot Cyrus. Fox was way behind Luthor to begin with, and had no reason to look at Luthor before the shot. He didn't have any clue what was going to happen. Fox heard the shot, like everyone else did, the shot just coming from somewhere in the massive crowd, and a few thousand gang members scatter, but Fox, who obviously looked to pinpoint where the shot came from, sees Luthor point a gun at him. That he definitely saw, but as far as seeing Luthor shoot, there's no way he could have seen it.
