no.. they're practically the same thing as the Region 1.

but that's my opinion - i believe myself 100% that it is the same DVD what we have here.

A few sources have confirmed that they're identical aside from the packaging, and it would also be a real kick in the teeth after Walter Hill's including an introduction to specifically discuss how he doesn't believe in Special Editions and commentary in the Region 1 version, only to have him turn around and provide just that for the Region 2 version.

I have a region 2 copy in the post and should be with me tomorrow or Thursday so I'll let you know. I'm not sure if it'll come in a case though. It's coming from Paramount's publishers so I can clear up what's on it for everyone before the release in the UK on the 17th.

The region 2 will be a PAL disc. PAL is the european TV standard. They have approximately 100 more lines of vertical picture information than our standard, NTSC. Often a PAL disc will look better. (The Lord of The Rings dvds for instance look much better.) The tradeoff is that PAL discs of films run 4% faster, (PAl speedup because film is shot at 24fps and PAL runs at 25.) so the pitch of the audio (unless digitally corrected like the Lord of the Rings discs were) is higher.
I have compared many PAL and NTSC DVDs and without question...

If the two DVDs are derived from the same transfer, PAL will ALWAYS be better. You can't cheat resolution.
I'll show you how I play
