What was Cleon thinking?

OK Cyrus has been shot. Immediately the cops attack. Why does Cleon leave the troop he's leading. The obvious answer is to check on Cyrus. However, they weren't friends. "Everybody says that Cyrus is the one and only.........I think we better go have a look for ourself" Even if the cops weren't raiding, it was a bad idea to leave the guys, but they were raiding. His place was leading them away from danger.

i always thought about that and all i can get in either he was trying to split up so that the cops coulndt jap them all at once or he wanted to see cyrus's dead body for himself

I think it was to maybe prove that his gang didn't do anything. He jumped right in there and check it out, but Luther screwed the whole thing up...

In the book arnold HAD to see it, since he was such an major figure in the gang world, sort of like paying his respect. maybe he wanted to see such a powerful figure dead.

Maybe he wanted to find out if the truce was still on so he could get his gang home safely

Cleon wanted to see if he could help. but when he got to Cyrus it was just to late. Cleon had a soft spot for Cyrus after hearing his speech about how one gang could rule this city.

he did not realise he was going to get blamed for the shooting so I think he wanted to see if Cyrus was ok
