Wow, nice find. I never knew that the outfit was striped.
Re: Savage Huns patch
goes to show that none of us can be certain when basing it off of piccie's
Re: Savage Huns patch
it's also funny how different the colors look, even though they were all taken in the same light with the same phone
in terms of color (at least on my screen), this last one is the most accurate:

Re: Savage Huns patch
you can also tell that it's just a lion patch over a cut-out circle of black (what material seemed to be used for this fornicate?)
very homemade, just like the ones many of us have recreated here.

Re: Savage Huns patch
It looks like the same material for the black circle as prison/army issue blankets, just a different colour.
Re: Savage Huns patch
once LIER discovers this is right in his neighborhood, I eagerly await the fabric report!ILLER... wrote:you can also tell that it's just a lion patch over a cut-out circle of black (what material seemed to be used for this fornicate?)

Re: Savage Huns patch
I just today saw ur post on this 4NIk. I want to make a more screen accurate version of the HUNS and I saw this. Looks like the wife & I will be taking a trip to Astoria. As soon as I do, I will have many pics and a detailed description.
Re: Savage Huns patch
So I went with my son and wife this past weekend to the Museum of Moving Image. Here is what I can tell you about the outfit. We had it wrong, all wrong!
1) the material: Material is not thin as it looks on film or in pictures it is flannel. It is the same texture as all my early 90s flannel shirts. The collar looked modified to a mandarin collar from a regular pointed collar, to match the Asian theme of the gang. The pants are the exact same material.
2) The color: The color is not green as it looks in the film and pictures. In actuality it is a pretty dark brown. It has thin black pinstripes. Again the pants are same color and texture.
3) The patch: The black circle is exactly like I made it. It is a large black piece of felt and sewn on a 1/4 inch in to create a almost merrowed edge. It is MUCH larger than we thought and takes up pretty much the whole back. The TIGER is much larger than the patches out there now. It is about twice the size (about 20 inches long).
I of course looked at the outfit for quite some time. I was really disappointed that we got so much incorrect and made me wonder what else we got wrong. Looking at it tho, I got the impression that this outfit was completely custom made. It would be easy for a costume department to get the fabric and make a shirt and pant set for 9 people. The outfits did not have to be practical or functioning. As said to my wife, there is no way to replicate this outfit unless we find this exact fabric and find a tailor to make the shirt and custom make the outfit.
I took a lot of pics and will post them later along with some more commentary. I can tell you this renewed my interest in making replicas. Think I will work on the ALLEY CATS outfit.

Great shots. I see what you mean about the pin stripes. Close up, it looks less military-esq. I didn't realise the cap was a leatherette material.
