Slightly decreased my backlog of films last night.

Lake placid 3
Woeful film. Thought it would be at least semi entertaining due to it having Michael Ironside and Yancy Butler in it. Very outdated cgi and a pathetic script acted out with wooden performances. My advice: Watch the first five minutes to see british soap actress Roxanne Pallet get naked and killed, then watch something else.

Jonah Hex
This started off so well as a supernatural western. A little reminicent of the Django films in places. Imagine someone mixing outlaw josie wells with the crow but not ending up with anything near as good as those 2 films. Second half of the film went down hill and was kinda like wild wild west but without a giant robot spider and will smith going "aww hell no".

The Hole
As far as kids spooky mild horror films go, this was watchable. Neither disliked or loved it. Kinda like a long episode of Eerie Indiana (if anyone remembers that show)

Monsters
Boy, did I fall for the hype. District 9 meets Cloverfield? More like my head meets pillow. Low budget monster flick with hardly any monster appearences. Basically a couple going around parts of mexico (A few half demolished buildings and some burnt out military vehicals) and taking photos while saying "ooh, look at the devistation". The space octopus was uninspiring. Prefered the Mist. I found this film boring from start to finish.

Last Airbender
Nicely shot scenery. Vaguely familiar with the cartoon so I knew a little of the plot before I watched this. Mediocre. I will describe this film as Neverending story meets Shaolin monks. Meh.

Resident Evil 4
More of the same thing. Better than part 3. Some stupid camera shots due to it being made for 3D. There's only so many times you can watch Mila Jovavich (or whatever her name is) backflip over mutant dogs before apathy kicks in. Watchable but forgetable.

I started to watch Red, but struggled keeping my eyes open due to watching 6 films back to back and it being 5am. I did see James Remar's name pop up on the screen.

If I stick to plan, my next 3 films in line are Legend of the fist, High Kick girl and Lost boys 3.

I only watched that particular selection to test a couple of disks i'd burned before giving them to the person whom requested those particular movies. Only watching the first 2 minutes of Red, it didn't suck me straight into the story to the point where I must see what happens next, so I can save that film for another night. I'm more in the mood to watch something with some martial arts action tonight. I've got so much on backlog, I may have equaled your netflix queue. I've got films I aquired years ago that i've still not watched. Think I might need alcoholic influence to get the maximum enjoyment from "For your height only" (indonesian midget james bond spoof).

Lake Placid 3! I didn't even know 2 was out. I've got Jonah Hex and Red to watch too, i'm leaving Resident Evil alone cus i thought the first one was awful and the other 2 were worse than that.
Just got a film called Reign Of Assassins, sounds a bit Kung-fooey might be good?

Although it satisfied my fetish for japanese girls in school uniform, high kick girl was poorly directed. Too many repeat action and slow motion shots badly affected the flow of the film. Apparently a lot of stunt men quit half way through because blows wern't being pulled and they were sustaining too many injuries. Probably why theres so many repeat action shots cos they had to pad the film out to try and make 75 minutes.
I've seen better.

I'd describe Red as a lighthearted cia spoof film. Some parts were too over the top for it to be taken seriously, and I think it was aware of that. James Remare only get 2 minutes airtime. Ernest Borgnine is looking well for his age.

Lost Boys 3
No Warriors reference like part 2 but it is a better sequal. Ties in well with the first movie and uses a few flashback scenes. Corey Feldmans voice has got even deeper for some reason.

Despicable me
For a kids film, there were no kids in the cinema when I saw this earlier. The 3D was used well. One of the rare films where the movie is a lot better than the trailer makes it out to be. Wasn't keen on the dance number at the end but the rest of the film was enjoyed. The minions were the best characters. Kinda like the yellow plastic shell inside kinda eggs and dressed in dungarees.

I'm not sure if that warrants inclusion to the queue, but fun nonetheless

Ninth Delegate wrote:If I remember right, isn't that the pilot episode for the tv series that got cancelled? Once you got past the fact it's no longer Wes Snipes playing Blade, it wasn't all that bad. The Guy who played the bodyguard for the little girl vampire leader would make a perfect Jaws in a future James Bond flick.
Does the guy your talking about look like Richard Kiel? If so don't know if it's the same bloke were talking about but, I'm watching Boardwalk Empire and an actor from that looks identical to Richard Kiel, could even be related. I've seen him before in a film called Shotgun Diaries and i think he plays Kim Basinger's boyfriend in 8 Mile. Is this the same actor you mentioned?
The actor i'm talking about seems to look more and more like Jaws as he gets older.

I don't think we're thinking of the same guy. This is his imbd page... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0220883/

He played lurch in the addams family tv show remake, amongst other things
