Ya mean like this? Image
:D yep, exactly like that.
Just read the first issue of The Walking Dead. thought is was really good, starts off the same as 28 Days Later when he wakes up in hospital and everyone's turned to Zombies.
Also read the first issue of Marvel Zombies, didn't really like that though, might be because i don't know who half the super heroes are.

On August 12, 2009, it was announced that AMC had picked up the rights to produce a show based on The Walking Dead comic. Frank Darabont will write, direct and serve as an executive producer. Charles H. Eglee is attached as a writer and executive producer.

On January 21, 2010 AMC announced that a pilot was ordered for the show, which will begin filming on 15 May 2010. Announced cast members include Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Sarah Wayne Callies as Lori, Jon Bernthal as Shane Walsh, Steven Yeun as Glenn, Laurie Holden as Andrea, and Jeffrey DeMunn, speculated to play Dale. Six episodes have been ordered as part of the first season. It is scheduled to debut on AMC in October 2010.

Are you talking about UK reprints of early comics?

Potentially interesting discussion here:

...which contains additional links as well

Yes, UK editions are generally consided to be worth less. The large comag logo on the front devalues it.  As long as you enjoy the comic, it doesnt matter that much.  I was never bothered if my issues were worth a lot.  All I wanted was the complete story.

I'm up to issue #40 now of The Walking Dead, didn't realise a comic could be as engrossing as watching a movie.
Does anybody else have any recommendations? I'm not really bovvered about super heroes though.

:(............................................. :p

sorry i have to chip in again. I would recommend Turf, easy to catch up as #2 is yet to come out. It's 1930's prohibition gang land America... with vampires and aliens. Fantastic art and written by Johnathan Ross who apparantly has the biggest collection original comic art (and comics in general) in the UK.. so he does know what he's getting into.

Anything by Frank Miller is good eg. Sin City or his grittier take on daredevil - #168's a great place to start says I.

Watchmen of course.

And on the zombies, that Zombies feast is pretty good stuff.

I didn't mean anybody else (not you). How do you start a comic at #168? That would drive me insane, i'd only be able to start at #1.
Is that OCD?

well you know superheroes are ongoing things and they constantly restart them. frank millers run lasted about 30 issues but i think 168 was the first one he wrote the story on and hes tryna reinvent it.

i think its a good one because ... well it was the first one i read... you get a good idea of the character then it goes back to his past and introduces another character so its a good mix of the origin.

of course you'll probably wanna have an idea of the general idea but i think with superheroes you're usually okay as long as your reading the start of an arc.

Start at 1!

Do not deviate!!

Read in order!!!

Ok, now THAT'S ocd (but accurately describes my project of reading every marvel comic, in month order, starting from the first!)

I've made it from November 1961, and am currently about a third of the way through June 1969

Christy

I would consider that but only if i bought the TPB's. Most of the first volumes of marvel essentials seem to be out of print  :doubt:
