Logo’s i can understand, but can someone have a trademark on just the shape of a vest?

Certainly, mass-production would be a concern, but do you think just making a handful would be trouble?

Lier
Lier is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the city of Lier proper and the town of Koningshooikt. On January 1st, 2000 Lier had a total population of 32,191 (15,671 males and 16,520 females). The total area is 49.89 km² which gives a population density of 645.24 inhabitants per km².

No, not that one...as you all know, born and raised ion queens!!

To answer your question, yes, a company can trademark the pattern. Mass production cannot be done and it is not cost effective to make let's say 5-10pcs.

Now that i have the correct piping, I need a vest. I want it to be the correct color (almost a camel color leather, not the reddish/brown that some vests are made). If anyone comes across one, or sees one on ebay, post it here. Thanks.

Here are some I found;

I THINK THE POCKETS ARE TOO SMALL ON BELOW

http://cgi.ebay.com/vtg-80s-URU-SWEATER ... 19b7b59469

I DON"T LIKE THE WOOL ON BELOW

http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-50S-L-L-BEA ... 518e45273a

I will be displaying this with the back showing, so it does not have to be 100% movie acurate in the front (although I would like it as movie acurate as I can). My main concern is the color of the vest.

how about cutting our own leather? the vests are made in two pieces, and maybe we can take apart a warriors vest, make improvements and cut accordingly.

I was thinking of getting the material @ this leather store on 38th street between 7th & 8th ave in nyc and getting the measurements and cutting my own vest. I think that would be too hard. IDK.

The other thing is, the vests made by loco ape (if we are to use those as the pattern to cut the leather bought) are they the correct measurements? If yes, we could probably take a costume vest (they are the cheapest version to work off of), take it apart, take the two pieces (although I think they are one piece we could cut it in half) cut the purchased correct color of leather to the pattern and stitch back together. It would be the pockets, that I think would be the toughest. It might be possible tho. I wish locoape would make a limited edition screen acurate vest. I know they DO NOT want us doing what we are discussing.

The one you spotted in that auction can be converted with a little work.  The pockets can be adjusted if you use the old A1 method.  I think they cut out the full shape of the piping () into the leather then put an extra peice of leather behind it.  This means you can straighten out that vests pockets and lower it down slightly the > part of the piping should point to the middle of the forth button.  The fancydress vests are not the best example to copy from.

as long as it's for own use, and not resale, i don't think they have much legal recourse

I'm gonna have to put some compare pics up of the A1 and movie vest to show what I mean.
The cut of the replica vest is too high up on the chest.  It should be a steeper angle.  Are the largest size of these Shar meeran produced vest a lot longer in length?  We need something thats too big in order to cut it down to size and make the correct shape.  Starting from scratch with leather may be pricey as we need a maximum of 4 peices.  Thats why the mondotees vest was cheap, as they used smaller leather peices, but fell foul to too many seams.

DAM!! I need one vest that is almost correct. I have the piping correct (I think) and I have been vintaging my war-bird for a little while and it is looking great. I have my factory making me a ROCKER made of canvas with the WARRIORS printed and a mix of embroidery ( cause I think that is the correct version). Now all I need is a correct color and slightly correct measurements.

i would also do some oil staining - on the beach scene it seems like the shoulders of the vest are lighter.
