Thank you Latem......for the kind words!
Are you just gonna let any army walk in any time they feel like it?  Pretty soon every gang is just gonna boogie right in, soldier right through.

I'm loyal to the Warriors and that's why I honestly don't think any gang in the city can beat them 9 on 9.

If I had to think of ways Ajax demonstrated loyalty, a few things come to mind:

When they got to the station after chunking the tov at the Orphans, we see him making sure everybody behind him makes it through the door.

Where Cowboy said to Swan, "He saved my ass back there. I owe him."

Ajax: "In an even fight, WE CAN TAKE 'EM!!" (sense of unity)

Ajax (before the Furies chase): "WHERE ARE THEY?!"

And after they creamed the Furies, when Swan and Ajax make eye contact....  I think that the message here suggested loyalty.

And to look at it from a different angle....

Even though Ajax was way out of line with Swan, Cochise puts his hand on him, "Hey man. Don' worry about it. Stay loose!" (forgiving the hard-to-forgive)

Going back to what Cowboy said...   (willing to watch the back of an arrogant, rebellious guy)
Snow wanting to go back for him.     (   "     "       "      "     "    "   "       "             "        "  )
"Look at me!  I'm the one who did this to you!  Remember me."

"You didn't walk with Jojo, you walked among him.  If you stared at him long enough, you could watch him grow fatter by the hour."

all that is true, he must have been respected for being chosen to go on the trip in the first place

Who knows?

Ajax was a heavy.  Out of the 120 some-odd members, 40 or 50 might have been heavy muscles.  Of these, Ajax was probably the strongest, most aggressive and with the most stamina.  Just speculation.
