Where was Masai during the conclave?

Post by The Swan »

I mean, I think Masai was not in Cyrus shoot... the guilty is luther( and someone else behind him), but this is another topic.
Anyway I was wondering it's strange though, he wasn't close to Cyrus that night...I mean under the platform...
So do you think this fact is important, strange or other... or it's only randomness?
Cause I'm sure and repeat, the guilty is luther...  but who can know exact director's ideas???
What do you think about guys? 8)

Well, I personally think there was a reason for this.  I mean if you notice, Masai represented more of the stirn, Malcom X type of person.  The one that uses "By any Means necessary" type of methods.  Hes only there for his army, and his army alone.  As apposed to the more Dr King approach that Cyrus uses.  So Masai wa more of a back up.  Incase something like this happened, Masai knew he was more of an insurance policy, that took a more aggressive step incase plan A was cancelled.  Therefor no showing up at the conclave.  And if he was, maybe he was more like a ghost in the wind, not revealing himself to easily.

IMO,Masai wasn't at the conclave because the Riffs didn't want to send both the leader of the gang and his second in command to the same meeting, just in case something happens(and it did happen). It's like in some countries the president and the vice president can't be at the same place during the war,etc just in case that the enemy bombs one of them, the other one can take his position.

Yeah i have always wondered that but i noticed that there where not that many riffs at the conclave next to cyrus and yeah that is strange that masai was not there he might of been at the hangout with some of the other riffs that is what i think.

i think that masai was entrusted to keep the hangout in order, while cyrus is a way masai wont play but keep the hangout safe

well think about it,if all the riffs go to the conclave any gang that was not invited (or even was invited) could rush in and take the hangout and from what we as fans know masai was a great leader so cyrus trusted him with the job

Ye bros, sure he cannot be near the platform... my doubt is about the fact we don't see him after luther shot Cyrus.
Surely with the police around, it was better to go away... but more I watch the movie more I think he should have been near Cyrus body. Even because with a normal uniform(not as WarChief) 4 istance, he would have avoided further problems!!!

The top two leaders were in two different places during this critical time.  One of them, Masai, plus 120, or so, members were securing their hang-out and were prepared for the worst, while Cyrus was out putting his and the other Riffs' lives on the line, while carrying out the beginning of his mission.

What cyrus and papa arnold said tie in with each other, so I agree with this arrangement.

I think that by staying behind, that's exactly what they were doing - in case anything bad went down at the conclave. I've mentioned on posts about whether Swan was second-in-command for that mission, or if he was second overall under Cleon, that it was probably for just that mission. No gang would send their top two guys to something like that if they were smart. Bad things happen, and losing two top members would be devastating.

Of course... perhaps Masai knew Cyrus wouldn't be coming back! For all we know, Luther was a patsy (and his craziness may have helped here) working for someone else, much like Lee Harvey Oswald. (Of course, there wasn't a second shooter here, but you get the picture.) Maybe Masai had a third party contract Luther to shoot Cyrus "for no reason", knowing they had to kill Luther if he got caught.
I've to say this is a Probing Close Examination, and indeed the "Lee Harvey Oswald" example is good too.

But I do have a doubt about the Two Top Members, I mean, IMO not Both, but at least every Real Gang War Lord (even if I know, we're talking about a Movie here) would have gone There. Dangerous, Very Dangerous or not, They would of gone There.
