The Coney Island Harlots - Part 1

Post by KissTheRain »

I'm BAAAACK - Thanks to everyone who read my first fic The Gramercy Harlots. I'm really glad you liked it. This is the sequel to it.
I suggest you read The gramercy harlots first for this to make sense but you could read it as a stand alone if you wanted to! This one is probably going to be a bit more comic than it will be dramatic. Enjoy!
P.S give me feed back and i'll send you a cookie!

-------------------------

It was a sound she was now used to, the waves breaking. Infact she loved it so much she practically couldn't sleep without it, it was too unsettling for her. It had been 6 months since the Gramercy Harlots had become the Coney Island Harlots and things had never been better. The Harlots 'Buisness venture' was better than ever with both gangs reeping the benefits. Robin had two strong girls in Melody and Mercy, both of them backing her up all the way. Best of all was Vermim. The two of them had never been happier. Robin had finally given in and they decided that since they spent most of their time together anyway it just made sense to move in together and since Vermin had the bigger place (and the better view) they decided to move Robin's things and offer her appartment to Rembrant and Melody, who Robin had officially dubbed the most adorable couple in New York.

After half an hour of lying there and listening to waves break she finally decided to get up, carefully untangling her legs from the duvet and her upper torso from Vermins arms. Vermin was face down in the pillow and was gently snoaring as he slept, another sound Robin had gotten used to quickly. She looked over him for a moment, taking in how cute he looked with his bed head hair.  Her stomach was churning and her head was pounding but she didn't feel like she was running a temperature. With a shrug she brushed it off and heading towards the bathroom to get a good long shower, since Vermin would  be asleep for at least another two hours.

Just as she finally emerged from the bathroom, hair and make-up done and jeans and vest on, there was a knock at the door. Mercy walked in with a smile wearing her Harlot vest over a black fitted tshirt and a pair of jeans and boots.
"Morning, I see you're up nice and early" She said, closing the door behind her. Robin sniggered.
"Early? Mercy, its 11am"
"Exactly. I'm assuming your man is still passed out?" She asked. Robin nodded.
"Yeah, face down in the pillow so i'm not expecting him up for a while" She said. There was suddenly a noise from the bedroom as Vermin tripped over his own high tops while trying to get out of the bed.
"But then again, he does surprise me sometimes" Mercy laughed.
"Good thing yours does, mine is like clockwork" as she finished her sentence Vermin walked into the sitting room wearing nothing but a pair of jeans, his eyes sleepy and his hair a mess.
"Morning baby" Robin smiled at him from her place on the sofa while Vermin rubbed his eyes.
"Morning beautiful" he muttered as he slowly wandered over and sat down next to her, giving her a kiss on the cheek, "And good morning Mercy" He finished. Mercy smiled at him.
"Morning Vermin, i'm assuming you're going to take a while before you join us out on patrol?" she asked. Vermin nodded.
"Give me an hour will ya?" Robin kissed him on the cheek then stood up.
"You take an hour babe but we're ready to go. It's a nice day. Sunshine, it's good for you!" She said with a grin. Vermin just nodded and Robin sighed.
"I'll see you out there!" She said, before her and Mercy left while Vermin sat with his head tipped back and his eyes shut, listening to the door close.

------------------

The sun was beating down on the streets in waves and Robin and Mercy had finally admitted defeat and were sitting on their normal bench with ice-cream. Robin sighed. She really wasn't feeling any better than she had been in the morning and she was starting to get tired too, which confused her since they had only been walking for about an hour and a half. She moved her ice-cream away from her face as a wave of nausea hit her.
"Hey, you okay?" Mercy asked. Robin just shook her head. "You don't look so good"  Mercy moved her hand to Robin's forehead and frowned.
"You don't have a temperature"
"I feel really sick..." Robin muttered.
"Sore head? Maybe you're getting a virus or something?" Robin shook her head.
"No...I'mgoingtothrowup!!" She said so fast it sounded like it was all the one word and before Mercy could register what she had said, Robin was off the bench and was throwing up in a garbage can. She then emerged looking very pale and slightly green.
"Are you okay?" Mercy asked. Robin narrowed her eyes.
"I just threw up in a garbage can...i'm wonderful" She quipped, her voice raspy. Mercy sighed.
"I'm going to ignoar the sarcasm since you're clearly not in the mood for a come back. Come on, i'm taking you home" She said, taking Robins arm. Normally Robin would have shrugged her off but she was feeling far too weak and she decided that she needed the help even if it was only a 5 minute walk to her and Vermins appartment.

After Mercy was happy that Robin was sleeping and that she was safe and sound, she decided to make her way towards the Warriors hang out, since she hadn't actually seen her own boyfriend since she had left him asleep that morning. She pushed open the heavy doors and walked inside, smiling and going straight over to Swan who was sitting with Cowboy and Vermin.
"Hey there" She said, sitting on his knee and his arms going around her waist.
"Hey, where have you been?" He asked.
"I was out on patrol with Robin and then she got real sick real fast so I had to take her back to her apparment" Mercy said. Vermin put his beer on the table and looked up from his cards.
"What was that? Robin was what now?" He asked. Mercy smiled at him.
"Relax, shes just feeling a little sick so I took her back to the appartment and let her sleep it off. No big deal!" she said. Vermin sighed.
"I'm going to go check on her anyway, I won't be able to relax until I do" He said, finishing his beer in one gulp and putting the empty bottle down along with his cards. "I'll be back soon. Mercy take my cards will ya"
"Alright but if you have a good hand I want half of the money"
"Yeah whatever!" he muttered with a backwards wave as the door shut behind him.

--------------
The sun light streaming through the windows confused her and she realised she wasn't sure what time it was or how long she had been asleep for. She pushed herself up gently and looked around. There was no sign of Vermin or Mercy and the radio had been turned off so she guessed it was another day and when she turned on the radio it just confirmed her thoughts.
"Morning Boppers, it's another beautiful day here on the streets of NYC. I'll be playing you a great mixs of tunes as usual as well as giving you the latest word on the street so stay tuned babies"
With a sigh Robin pushed her hair from her face as she listened for any sign of life in the appartment. She felt a million times better than she had the day before. She guessed that the long sleep had done the trick and that she maybe had just been over tired.
"Morning Sleeping beauty" Vermin smile from the door frame. Robin returned his smile with her own drowsy one.
"Hey baby, how long have I been out for?" She asked. He walked over and sat down on the bed.
"Since yesterday afternoon, I came back to check on you last night but you were totally out so I just let you sleep. How'd you feel?" He asked. Robin looked puzzled for a moment.
"fine...I really feel fine..which is good because I said i'd go and see my Dad tonight down in Brooklyn" she said. Vermin nodded.
"Yeah I rememer, Melody and Mercy going with you?" He asked. She nodded and slid back down into the bed.
"Yeah they are but I don't have to leave for a while so i'm going to go back to sleep" She said with a cheeky smile. Vermin bent down and kissed her.
"Alright, i'm going to go out on patrol okay, i'll be home later" he said with a smile, noticing that she was already drifting off.

Four hours later Robin was finally ready to actually leave the apartment, three and a half of those hours were spent in bed but she figured if she was going all the way to Brooklyn she'd have to give herself some time to look respectable. She went and met Melody and Mercy at the train station, the three of them making their way onto the subway and preparing for the journey to Brooklyn.
The train had been moving along as smooth as ever until suddenly there was a huge jerk and the train stopped sending Robin, Mercy and Melody flying off their seat. The lights flickered and were dull, emmiting a low hum.
"Whats happened?" Melody asked picking herself up from off Mercy then helping the other woman up. Robin looked around herself for a minute while picking her own person up.
"Must be a black out. Look, we're on emergancy power" She said.
"Great how long is that gonna last!?" Mercy exclaimed. She had never been the most patient person in the world so waiting on a subway during a black out wasn't her idea of fun. Robin decided to see what was going on so she wandered over to the doors and with a lot of effort managed to pry them open a little. There was a light a little bit up the tunnel.
"Look, theres a light, that must be the emergancy hatch to the streets!" She said. Melody looked pensive.
"I don't know, Maybe we should just stay put..."
"Are you kidding!? It's a black out! Theres going to be riots and i'm not missing that!" Mercy grinned and nodded in agreement, helping Robin open the doors enough for the three to slide through.

With a thud they landed between the tracks and started to walk through the dark corridor. Robin had to admit that she was slightly worried that the power would suddenly come back on and that the three of them would be hit by the train they were just on. Her fears dissapeared as they safely pushed their way through the door and began to run up the stairs and onto the street.

The streets were alive with people and gang members all running around, shouting and smashing things as they went. Robin grinned. She loved things like this. There were fires burning, car were flipped upside down and shop windows smashed.
"Right girls, lets get in there!" She said, grabbing a crow bar that she spotted to the side of the alleyway and making her way forward into the insane streets.
Immediately they began looting and smashing what was left. Mercy made a beeline to the jewlery shop that hadn't been touched yet, she guessed it was because no-one could pick the lock on the gate. After 3 minutes she heard a faint click and the gate slid open but she was sure not to open it too far. She didn't want to attract attention from anyone else. She wanted most of this stuff to herself. As she got inside she grabbed a brick and started smashing and grabbing everything she could see. Diamond necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets and even a few tiaras. One of which she nestled onto her head before leaving the shop.
Melody had decided to raid the clothes shop that was next to it, grabbing the bags they had for sale and stuffing it full of tops, jeans and anything else that was pretty before going to the music shop and grabbing the guitar she had been coveting for a long time.

Robin on the other hand was just taking everything in. She wanted to get a feel for what was going on, escape routes and hiding places, before she started any smash and grabs. She had a responsibility to her girls to make sure she knew these things, it's what any good leader would do. After happily deciding she had a plan in place, incase any cops showed up, she decided to go and start looting a nearby store. She knew that Mercy had already raided the best stuff and so had Melody and since they generally shared loot anyway, she thought she better get some good stuff.
She began to grab all sorts of different things from make-up to perfume to expensive hair brushes. Then her eye caught something that interested her. She looked around herself to check no-one was around and reached out to grab the little pink packet, pulling out the stick and shoving it in the safest place she could think of. Her bra.
One she was satisfied she had everything she wanted from the store, she bagged the lot and moved outside, bumping into Melody.
"Hey! What did you get!?" She asked. Robin laughed, the excitement of that situation getting to her.
"I'll tell you later! Come on, we need to find Mercy, it's getting hectic here!" she said. Then she spotted someone who she had always hopped she'd run into. Harley of the Lizzies. With an evil smile she handed Melody her bag.
"Go find Mercy and meet me at the subway. I have buisness to attent to"

She marched towards the smaller woman with a kind of rage that she hadn't felt in a long time. It was because of this little bubble permed bitch that Robin and Vermin had had all that trouble in the first place. Alright, so it was Masai's idea but she was the one who was paid off.
"Hey!" Robin shouted sharply. Harley snapped her head in Robin's direction and looked like a deer caught in the head lights.
"We have unfinished buisness you and me!" Harley shook her head.
"Look, I was paid okay. I had nothing to do with it!" Robin sneered.
"Like I care about that. So come on, are you gonna fight be like a real woman...or are you gonna run...like every Lizzie does"  Harley sneered and suddenly jumped at Robin, Knocking her on her back. The two of them rolled and wrestled, pulling hair and scratching, Robin managing to roll enough to she was on top.
"Got off me you crazy bitch!" Harley screamed as Robin landed a hard punch on the Lizzies face. Robin didn't notice Harleys hand scrambling at the side of her and the next thing she new she felt a hard thud against her forehead and she was on her back on the cold concrete with blood running down her face. Harley had scrambled to her feet and was running away, a black eye forming.  There were sirens in the air and it was a sure sign that it was time to go.
"Robin!? Are you alright? Come on we need to go!" Mercy shouted picking her friend up and making a run for the subway.

------------------

They were tired and generally fed up when they got back to Coney. Robin looked a picture with dried blood on her face from the gash on her forehead while Melody and Mercy looked like kids that had just robbed a candy store. They kicked the door of the Warriors hang out open, making the men inside jump from the loud bang it made and the three shuffled inside.
"What the fuck happened to you three?!" Swan shouted as the three sat down and put their bags at their feet. Mercy sighed.
"There was a black out and riots on the streets. Got some good loot mind you but Robin there got into a fight" She said. Swan gazed over Robin and noticed the cut.
"Yeah I can see that. I'd get cleaned up before Vermin gets back from night patrol. You'll give him a heart attack" He said. Robin nodded.
"I suppose yeah. I think i'm going to head home anyway, i'm not feeling too great" She said. Melody and Mercy stood up along with her.
"We'll come with you. Wanna look through the loot anyway" Swan looked a little disappointed.
"Don't I get a look in?" Mercy smiled and kissed him.
"Baby, it's all jewlery and clothes. Girly stuff, but if you're very lucky i'll pawn some of the stuff I don't want and i'll buy you something pretty" Swan smiled.
"Alright deal. Robin, i'll tell Vermin that you're back when he gets in" Swan said. Mercy kissed him on the cheek before the three girls made their way back to the apartment.

"Oh my god, look at all this stuff!" Melody exclaimed, viewing the loot as all of it was spread across the living room floor. Jewlery, clothes, Make-up among other random things that they just grabbed for the sake of grabbing.
"Alright, so we take what we want and everything else we'll pawn and split the money. Deal?" Robin said looking at the two girls. Mercy and Melody both agreed and the three started to dig in. Mercy ended up grabbing two pairs of jeans, 4 shirts, a different range of make-up and some jewlery, her favorite being the tiara that had been sitting on her head since she had picked it up. Melody was happy with some clothes and make-up and only took a diamond necklace for herself. It was the guitar she was happiest with. Robin was a little more preoccupied, picking up just one or two things at a time. Suddenly she stood up.
"Excuse me girls, i'll be back in a minute...or four" She said, walking to the bathroom and shutting the door behind her. She pulled out the small white stick from her bra and looked over it. She knew how these things worked in theory but she wasn't sure if she was ready to do it just yet.
She must have lost track of time because there was a bang on the door and she heard Mercy and Melody outside.
"Robin are you okay? You're not throwing up again are you?" Mercy asked. Robin cleared her throat.
"No, No i'm fine"
"What are you doing in there then. It's been ten minutes!" Melody said. Robin sighed and opened the door, holding up the pregancy test. Mercy and Melodys mouths hung open.
"Oh"
"My"
"God"
"Look, i've not taken it yet and besides i'm not sure if I really want this anyway..."
"Robin, you have to take it! You can't keep going on without knowing!" Mercy said. Robin smiled.
"I know. Okay i'll take it but you two will have to look for me!" She said. Both of the girls nodded and Robin shooed them out of the bathroom only to emerge two minutes later. She handed the stick to Mercy and began to pace the living room.
"Is it time?" she asked. Mercy nodded and looked at the little window. Robins heart was thudding in her chest and she could hear it pounding in her ears. She wasn't sure if she could take the pressure anymore, "Well?"
"It's negetive..." She said deadpan. Robin's shoulders dropped.
"Oh...Well...thats great, Obviously" she said, tear beginning to form in her eyes and she quickly wiped them away.
"Is it really?" Melody asked. Robin nodded.
"Well yeah..I mean, how could I raise a baby here? Vermin isn't ready..and...Oh my God this is so stupid! How can I be getting upset over something I never had in the first place?" She said almost sobbing. Mercy grinned.
"Okay It's positive" Robin almost choked when Mercy spoke and she stalked forward.
"WHAT?! Are you sure?" She said smiling through her tears. Mercy nodded.
"Well yeah I lied before" She said handing Robin the test and showing her the little blue plus sigh through the small plastic window. Melody was also crying and was looking at the window with her.
"But see now you know how you really feel about it!" Mercy said. Robin was grinning ear to ear.
"I'm gonna do this...I'm gonna have a baby!"
