She had never been so happy to be out of an outfit in her life. The stunning white dress now lay in a
crumpled pile in the corner of her room and Robin was currently hopping around attemping to pull up the stiff fly in her jeans. With a final hop she landed backwards, sliding over the arm of the sofa and her head landing in Vermins lap. With a content sigh she finally fixed the top button and relaxed, happy to stay in her position of lying on the sofa with her legs hanging over the arm and her head in Vermins lap.
"I've never been so happy to get out of an outfit" She grinned. Vermin just grinned back which looking down at the brunette.
"So I noticed" He said with a small laugh "so what are you gonna do now?" He asked quitely, absently running his hand through her hair. She frowned a little and shrugged.
"I hadn't thought of that yet...I can't stay here thats for sure!" She said with a sad giggle, "I don't know, maybe the gang'll just disband. We don't have a turf anymore..."
"Thats not true" There was a familiar voice from the door and Swan and Mercy walked in along with Rembrant and Melody. Swan held Vermin's vest in his hand and he passed it over.
"I though you might want this back" He said. Vermin grinned as he pulled the familiar peice of leather back on over his shoulders, the soft material moulding to him like a second skin.
"Thanks man, I didn't realise how much i'd miss it!" He said. Robin pushed herself up and gave Swan a questioning look.
"What were you talking about turf?" Robin said. Melody looked so excited that she might expload and she began to hop from foot to foot.
"It's so great Robin, we can get out of here!" Melody exclaimed in a high pitched voice. Robin raised an eyebrow, not sure what he overly caffinated friend was getting at.
"I don't get it..."
"We, The Warriors, are offering you a turf share" Swan said, looking Robin dead in the eye to show he was serious. Robin stood silent for a second, her mouth hung open slightly and her eyes wide, unable to believe what she was hearing.
"Are...are you serious?" She asked. Swan nodded.
"Yeah I am. We have the space on Coney and I think it would benefit both Gangs, you said it yourself. You don't have a turf anymore" He said. Robin grinned and looked at Vermin.
"Well...what do you think?" She asked quitely, terrified that he'd be against the idea "Cause if you don't want me to, I won't"
"Are you kidding? I got stripped of my colours, came down to stop your wedding and almost got my ass kicked by a hundered Riff's. Do you really think i'm about to NOT let you turf jump?" She grinned and kissed him before turning to Swan.
"Alright, Coney Island it is then"
-- 3 months later --
She couldn't help but hiss as her bare feet hit the cold wood floor when she swung them round to get out of bed. It was now the middle of december and it was bang in the middle of a New York winter. Normally winter was Robin's favorite time of the year but not when it was 9am and she was just getting out of bed. She quietly pulled on her clothes and began to make her way home from Vermin's appartment. It wasn't like it was far, litterally just around the block. As she walked she thought about the past three months.
The move had been by no means easy and there had been a few fights cause by the Riffs as Robin and hers girls were moving their things. It wasn't like it was just Robin and Melody that was making the move. They had their street family to take care of and Robin was going to be dammed if one of them got hurt for no reason. Swan and his Warriors had, to her, been amazing the whole way through. Constantly giving support in any way they could, from providing heavy muscle to simply helping to carry a few heavy boxes. Eventually they were finally complete and all that was left in Gramercy to show a gang called the Harlots had been there was the silk top Masai had made specially. It lay quietly on Robin's old bed. Best place for it, she thought, it was a representation of her old life and what it was really like. This was her new life now.
As she walked down the cold streets of Coney, she could see in the distance a familiar face with long dark wavy hair walking towards her with a small dog running around her feet.
"You're up early" Mercy said, wrapping her coat around herself a bit more. Robin did the same, the wind chill was cutting her to the bone today.
"I know, I couldnt sleep. Got a few things I need to sort out with a few of the working girls" She said "How are those new colours fitting you?" She asked with a grin. A month ago Robin had decided to officially made Mercy a Harlot since she had all the style and attitude that a Harlot should have, plus the three girls, Melody, Robin and Mercy had grown pretty close what with always being at the Warriors hang out with their boyfriends but then again, most of the Harlots were. Officially there were two seperate hang outs and when buisness was discussed it was strictly Warrior or Harlot only but most of the time it was pretty relaxed.
"They fit pretty good, even Swan seems to like them!" She said with a giggle "So where are you heading?"
"Home for a quick shower and a change of clothes. I crashed with Vermin last night"
"Big surprise there. Seriously, you two should just move in together" robin smiled.
"This is our way of keeping a few boundries. We're not quite there yet" She said. Mercy smiled.
"Well it's up to you, i'm going to finish walking Buster. I'll see you later" Robin nodded and said goodbye to her friend and she watched the dark haired woman walk away before continuing her walk towards her appartment.
------------------------
Vermin was awake but his eyes were still shut. His hand was searching the side of the bed that Robin normally slept on. Upon realising she wasn't there he suddenly sat bolt upright and scanned the room for any trace of the Harlot. Her clothes were all gone, including her Vest which must have meant she had left his appartment. With a sigh he threw his head back on the pillow to hear a small crunching sound. She had left him a note.
---------------------
"We really have to find a better way to communicate" Vermin said, a smile in his voice so she knew he wasn't mad, as he sat down next to her on the edge of the boardwalk overlooking the sea.
"Auw baby, I thought you liked notes" she teased. He nudged her gently and she rocked back into him, gently lying her head on his shoulder, both of them watching the waves break on the shore of Coney Island. The purple glow of the Wonder Wheel falling on them. They had never been happier. The Warrior and the Harlot.
"Robin"
"MmmHmm"
"You know I love you right?"
"Yup"
"Cool"
"Vermin"
"MmmHmmm"
"I love you too"
"Cool"
