Gangs Vests Map

Post by The Swan »

Hi guys, I'd have an idea I've "eliminator1" to thank 4!!!
An idea... well a question...
... so do you guys think all the cops, in the movie and in real life, had a kinda map 4 recognizing all the gangs vests? I mean this way, they could have stopped/arrested a gang member directly in his turf.
I mean if 4 istance, undercover cop, wasn't able to stop ajax in the park... knowing his colours, the morning after, Police could go to Coney 4 arresting him, or all the gang!
Your thoughts?

It was divide and conqere situation

as Scurvy said the precints would definately be needed

the different precincts would deal with different gangs and when they wanted their big fish each precinct may of teamed up to take down ALL the gangs.

Scurvy Dog wrote: I would guess that each precinct had a "gangs liaison officer", familiar with area gangs - the NYPD equivalent of The Fox. If they heard a gang described they didn't know, all they'd have to do is talk to an officer from another precinct - or perhaps one of their snitches.

Good question, The Swan. On that note, it's surprising that the police weren't waiting in Coney for the Warriors.
NYPD do have a Gang Division that deal with the turmoil of Gangs in the city..
Even in The Warriors Special Edition DVD,They mention something about it..
I just wanted to add that to this conversation..

I am sure the cops had to know at least 93% of the gangs and their activities.  I am also sure, some went undecover.

Refering to what T7, said about gang division, believe it or not, these guys not only rememberize colors, and what they where, but they also study the language of what certain graffiti means.  Sort of like craking a code.  Everything from gang signs, to street lingo.  Actually believe it or not, cops have been cracking down more on gangs now a days, and getting into the world of these people.

Well adam88, sure it's believable!!!
As I wrote, "eliminator1" gave me this topic "input"... but because of I've always liked American Police way of working, I've "studied" it, so I repeat I believe what you've told!!!
You know another believable or not thing about US Police, that it's also the umpteenth linking point between Italian (my Country) and American Police?
Since Joe Petrosino (NYPD Cop, Officer and then Commander) began to fight (19th-20th Century) early "Mano Nera (Black Hand) and Mafia" apparitions, coming then to Italy-Palermo where he was unfortunately killed by "them"....... there has been a great link between Italian and American Police.
So that way of cracking "Mob" codes was born during those years, and all the cops continued to use it till today. Against Mafia, Gangs, today immigration... and so on...
Sometime I think this way of working is better than militar one!!!
Same thing 4 the Police infiltrations... those cops are really cool dudes.... by the way has anyone ever watched "Donnie Brasco", a movie on a real "PolicevsMafia"episode in New York 1970-'80? That Cop Joe Pistone knew all the codes, all the symbols, everything.... FORGERABBAUDIT!!!
