step one: no porridge in the morning!
why not?? all these years i thought my ready brek was good for me...
Look at the word
breakfast
You are, literally, breaking a fast, wherein the working definition of a
fast is an extended period of no food
After not eating, presumably, all night, including several hours before, your glycogen levels are at their lowest. When sugar is introduced into a low-glycogen system, it absorbs it much more rapidly
Rapid increases in blood sugar
immediately signals the release of insulin, to restore the normal blood sugar levels
This is what's known as an
insulin spike
The presence of raised insulin leads to
instant accelerated fat storage
The now greatly reduced sugar levels, which are too low due to the insulin spike, demands the opposing glucagon reaction, to restore sugar back into the system, until it levels off
These spikes and valleys interfere with the natural metabolic rhythm
