I've discovered a new error (slight but there) ----

This one concerns the local of where The Warriors are when they first meet The Orphans and Mercy. New York City residents will know a little more about this but I shall explain!

Now of course they are supposed to be in The Bronx, having just started their journey home. It is already established I believe, that the scene with the Turnbull ACs was filmed in Brooklyn.

From 1964 to the mid-80s or so, each borough of NYC had "colored" street signs, the street signs that told you what block you were on, the name of the street. For instance, in Manhattan, the signs were yellow, and you can easily see two of them in two scenes - when The Warriors meet up with The Furies (you see the yellow Broadway sign) and when the others are with The Lizzies outside their hangout (you see an out-of-focus yellow street sign in the backround before they go in).

Bronx's color was blue with white letters, and Brooklyn's color was black, also with white letters. Now in the scene where Mercy is looking for The Warriors after they just met the Orphans, she is walking the streets. In the one shot where Mercy is walking towards the camera, with the white car on the right side, you can see a pole on the right with the street sign on it. The name of the street is out of focus (but it's a number street) but the sign is definitely black, showing that they are indeed in Brooklyn, not the Bronx.

Minor, but hey, it's there :).

For more info on the colored street signs, and pics of a few that are still hanging in NYC somwhow, this is a great page (and great website too for NYC residents and fans), all about old stuff in NYC still around....

I know this sounds geeky but I am a street sign fan LOL and like a few others around town, even collect some of the old ones. That website even shows one in Brooklyn still up hanging from the 1910's, on a corner that isn't even there anymore!

Nice find and a good bit of NYC info, Steven! I've always noticed the yellow street sign for West End Ave as the Furies ran down 100 St. as they appear on the screen above the sidewalk horizon. I'll have to look at the scenes you mention.

Hey Gonz, I gotta say I have never noticed the West End Ave sign before in that Furies scene!! It's awesome!! I know it sounds crazy but I do look for the old street signs in movies, so this is exciting, now I see it and I'm like, how did I never see that ??

Yo what a cool find,I did not even know that the signs in New York, had different colors, back than, and that it stood for something?
This is why I love coming here, you learn something new everyday,
All of these links that I see here in the forum,I wish someone could just put these cool links in one page,so I don't have to go searching for it all over the forum? Just a thought! ;)
