Jeez, I'd love to finish what i started in the fan fic section, its tough to get back into them and there is so much coursework to do at the moment. But as i had a few free minutes this evening i thought i'd give a short story a shot.
Dust let out a sigh, in harmony with the sea-breeze, whistling through the rafters of the boardwalk.
Mono looked up from the sand.
“Whut?”
It was morning. Early. Mono and Dust woke up, after a night they barely remembered, from which they were still battered and bruised. There'd been no rumble. These were the scars of a good time with their brothers.
Their vests hung off their frames, the sun rising over the water casting low, twisted shadows on the beach.
They winced as TC yelled through the rafters. They looked up to see his face between the ageing woodwork.
“Guys,” he said, “Come on. No time, we gotta go right now.”
“What the...?”
They groaned and pushed themselves off the ground, and stumbled to where he was running. TC was on watch last night, he didn't have the time to get so wrecked.
Half an hour later, Mono looked up from his sneakers and shook his aching head.
“Dude.” Mono couldn't see who was talking to him. There was about 10 of them and they were headed somewhere, it was such a blur. “Come on Mono, you gotta snap out of this.”
“Where's Dusty?”
More of them. The mystery member of the ranks got lost in the crowd. He'd known his name but Mono didn't think they'd met. The gang was growing day by day now. Look how many of us there are right now, he thought. Has this all gone too far?
“Hold up,” he knew that voice, TC was leading the pack, the war party. And now they were at their destination. Where were they?
A crash, shouting. And everyone ran away from him towards those that had appears out of every doorway in the corner of the city they'd come to.
“Mono!”
“..Dust?” he turned round, to see him run right up to him.
“Yeah, man it's me. Come on, let's do what we do best.”
“...S**t man, I ain't gonna drink again.”
“We'll drink when this is over. We're taking them down, they ain't gonna muscle us no more.”
Mono reeled back. No time to talk, some kid had just bust him right in the jaw. Dust leapt to defend him slamming the skinny kid to the floor and rose up, fists up, ready to go, scanning the crowd for another brother in need or another sucker to take out. But all around them the gang were in their element. When they weren't partying these men were the best fighters in the city. They had the edge.
These guys knew that by now. Those that were conscious. Crawling away to escape another broken bone, another bloodied nose.
“Wimps...”
“Mono, come on man. What's up? You normally waste half the guys we bop with! You must have had a better night than I can remember.” Dust put his arm around his shoulder.
“I think it was a good night man... S**t...” They laughed it off as the gang walked back to the hangout, just as tough as when they marched out to these lightweights territory. Nobody could touch them.

I was just going to do this as a super short piece but if i can plan out a decent enough story I might do something with this, at some point, as it turned out better than i expected.
