Part 2
The sun light can streaming in through the windows, hurting Vermin's eyes as he slowly came to. His head felt like there was a marching band going through it. After a few moments he realised that he wasn't wearing any clothes and that he wasn't in the bed alone. To his right, lying next to him, was Robin. She was fast asleep and equally as naked as he was. As he thought for a moment about how they ended up in the position they were in, it suddenly dawned on him that Robin may not be as happy about the situation and he wondered if he had taken advantage in some way. Quietly and as carefully as he could he slid his way out of the bed and began to get his clothes together. He turned and looked over her, she looked so peaceful while she was sleeping, her hair spread all over the pillow like a fan. Suddenly the door flew open, hitting the side of the wall making a loud bang that caused Vermin to jump.
"Morning, you rea..." Vermin quickly jumped across the room and covered Cochies' mouth before he could finish his sentence.
"Will you keep it down!?" Vermin hissed "I don't want to wake her up!" he kept eye contact with his friend to make sure he understood and slowly he removed his hands.
"You dog! I can't believe you're going to do a runner!" Cochise said at a significantly lower volume. Vermin sighed.
"I'm not!......I'm going to write a note" He finished, feeling slightly more stupid each second.
"A note? Man, are you serious?" Cochise asked. Vermin just nodded. He knew it wasn't exactly the most gentlemanly way to say that he was leaving and technically he should have woken her up to say bye. He had never been good with these things.
"Look just go outside, i'll be there in 10 seconds" he said, grabbing the pad of paper that was on the floor. Quickly he scribbled a note an left it next to the bed, hoping that she would find it.
-------------------------
If there was one thing she had never been good at dealing with it was hangovers. It was only ever when she smoked that she got them and she told herself that someday she'd learn. Today was not that day. With a sigh she rolled over and felt something crumple under her head. With a raised eyebrow she gingerly lifted herself up to see what she was lying on. She picked up the peice of paper and lay back down, holding the note above her face and attempting to focus.
Robin, Sorry I had to leave so quickly. I have your number and i'll call you
Vermin x
(P.s my number's on the back of this note)
Slowly she dropped her arms to her side, still holding the note in her left hand. Her gaze remained on the ceiling, focusing on all the tiny insignificant marks while she tried to get her head around the situation. She had met a seemingly nice and good looking guy, Slept with him and he had left her a note. A note.
All of a sudden the hangover was gone and she was seeing red. She sat bolt upright with a scowl on her face. With a growl she threw the sheets off her and started to pull on her clothes, muttering as she did so. The muttering continued all the way to her apartment at the top of the building. She threw the door open and the loud crack it made against the wall woke up some of the girls and Riffs who were lying around.
"Girls, go sleep in your own places. Riff's....clean up my appartment then get to your own side of town!" She growled, storming through the living room towards her bedroom. Some of the girls, confused, began to make their way out of the room and down the stairs while a few of the Riffs began to clean up the bottles that were lying around. The last they saw of Robin was her storming into the bathroom and the shower starting.
When she emerged forty five minutes later, she was calmer and clean but still annoyed.
"So what did he do?" She jumped whe she heard the female voice from the sofa. Melody sat with a sympathetic smile on her face. Robin sighed.
"How long have you been sitting there?" She asked. Melody shrugged.
"I don't know...long enough to know that you take extremely long showers. Now sit down and tell me what he did to put you in such a bad mood" Robin sighed and walked over to the beaten up sofa and sat next to her friend.
"Alright, it's not anything he did...in person" She began "It's more...how we left things" Melody looked confused.
"Well...how did Rembrant leave you? Did he say goodbye?" Melody suddenly blushed.
"Yeah, he woke up and gave me a kiss and promised that he'd see me again. He was so sweet!" She gushed. Robin's jaw clenched. "I'm guessing that is not how Vermin left things with you?"
"NO!" Robin exploaded. "That would have been perfect! I got left with a note!"
"A note? Seriously!?" Melody exclaimed
"Yes and it didn't even say that he'd promise to see me again or that he had a good time. It didn't even say nice to meet you on it! It said 'sorry I had to leave so quickly, I have your number and i'll call you'" Melodys mouth was open in shock.
"The nerve of that guy! I can't believe it, he seemed so nice!"
"I know!"
The two girls sat in silence, Melody pondering and Robin silently seething. With a grunt Robin pushed herself up and wandered over to the kitchen section of the room , pouring water into an old kettle and putting it on the stove to boil. Melody walk over and sat on the other side of the counter.
"So what are you going to do then?" Robin looked up from putting the coffee in the mugs.
"What am I going to do about what?" She said. Melody rolled her eyes.
"About the note! You're not going to let him get away with that are you?" Robin didn't say anything. She simply shrugged and started to pour the boiling water into the mugs.
"Robin, seriously! You are head of this gang! He has to know that a note isn't going to cut it" Robin pulled the note from her pocket.
"I have his number..."
"No!" Melody shouted, "You have to go down there to Coney and show him that he is a dog!" Robin had her mug halfway to her lips before she realised something that made her put the mug back down.
"Part of this is that you want to go see Rembrant!" She said. Melody smile and shrugged.
"I'll admit that is a nice bonus but I'm serious. You have to teach him a lesson" She said. Robin nodded. Melody was right. She was the head of a Gang that were pretty high in the city considering they hadn't been in existance that long. With a new found determination she crumpled the note in her hand.
"Alright! Get some of the girls, We're going on a day trip to Coney Island!"
------------------------------
"Mercy, can I talk to you a sec?" Vermin asked. Things were quiet in Coney since they got home and all Vermin had thought of doing was calling Robin.
"Sure, what can I do for you?" She said, inviting him to sit down on the steps of their hangout with her. He sat down and leaned his elbows on his knees.
"I need some advice and I think you're the best person to get it from. The other guys ain't that understanding. See last night when I was down in Gramercy, I met this really cool chick and we really hit it off" He began. Mercy grinned.
"Are you wanting advice on how to get this chick?" she asked. Vermin gave a splutter of a laugh.
"No no, We've already.....you know" He said, making small circles with his hands. Mercy gave a silent 'Oh' in realisation.
"So what do you need me for?" She asked. Vermin took a sharp breath and then sighed.
"Well thing is I didn't exactly leave it on the best of terms...and I wanna see her again so I wanna call but...I don't know what to say" He explained. Mercy nodded in understanding.
"Well...how did it end? Did you guys fight?" she asked. Just as Vermin was about to open his mouth a loud voice interupted.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD DO THAT TO ME!" Robin's voice echoed between the buildings and went straight to Vermins ear making him wince. Mercy scowled and marched up to the slightly taller brunette.
"Look, whatever he said i'm sure he's sorry! Theres no need to come marching down to the Warriors turf causing trouble!" Mercy exclaimed, getting herself in between Robin and Vermin.
"Oh so you don't know what he did?" Robin asked. Mercy shook her head. "He slept with me then left me a note the next morning, just saying he would call me" Mercy's mouth hung open in shock and she turned sharply towards Vermin.
"Vermin! How could you?" She shouted. He felt cornered, like a rat before it was torn to pieces by 6 angry cats that hadn't eaten for a month. He held his hands up infront of him in surrender and back to walk backwards slowly.
"I'm sorry, If you'll just give me a chance to explain!"
"Explain?! What, How you were going to blow me off and never see me again?!" Robin said, angrily. He shook his head and had a sorry look over his face.
"No! Heres the thing, I...." He paused for a moment and eyed the other girls. He dropped his hands by his side in defeat. "Look, can I explain to you in private and not infront of the Dating War Command Special Forces Unit over there?" he said, pointing towards the group of angry looking women. Robin face softened and she nodded.
"Alright, but this better be good!" She said walking towards him and following him around the corner where he could explain away from the judging eyes of the other Harlots and Mercy.
"Alright, start explaining then Warrior" She said, her back against the brick wall and her arms folded across her chest. Vermin scratched behind his head, uncomfortable, while trying to think what to say.
"Well, It was like...I met you and you're this really cool chick who is in a gang and we hit it off and it seems like a really good thing and then we end up in bed together and the next morning I just didn't know what to do. I didn't know what to say so I thought it would be easier to call you cause then i'd have a chance to think about what I was going to say first!" He said quickly, not bothering to stop for breath. Robin kept her gaze to the floor and her arms folded but part of her understood where he was coming from. There was nothing worse than the akwardness that can come the morning after a one night stand.
"I just...I really like you and you're really cute and I didn't want to mess things up but...well so much for that!" He said, his eyes cast to the ground. Robin uncrossed her arms and a small smile appeared on her face.
"You think i'm cute?" She asked, the smile still on her face. He looked up at her and mirrored her expression.
"Well...yeah" She took a step closer to him, so close she was almost pressed against him, looking up at his face. Suddenly she sprung on her tip toes and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He grinned.
"See, my charm never fails" Robin rolled her eyes and lightly hit him on the chest.
"yeah yeah, just remember I might not be so forgiving next time...but...I suppose you didn't do it because you're an asshole..so I can let this one slide!"
He wrapped his arms around her waist and she leaned her head on his chest with a contented smile. She suddenly forgot how angry she had been and she felt more that a little bit stupid for marching all the way down and screaming at him. He took her by the hand and lead her out of the small alley way and back to where the girls were standing. Only Melody was missing.
"So are we kicking his ass or what?" One of the girls asked, Vermin standing behind Robin. It wasn't that he was afraid of the chick, far from it, but that night with The Lizzies had taught him to be cautious of big girls with hard attitudes. Robin shook her head.
"Not today" She said. It worried Vermin that the girl looked almost disappointed and he pondered if it was him she didn't like or all men in general. He made a mental note to ask Robin at another time.
"So you two sorted it all out?" Mercy asked with a small smile, noticing the fact the two were holding hands and she was leaning against him.
"Yeah, i'm out of the dog house" He annouced with a slightly smug grin. Robin pushed him slightly and rolled her eyes.
"What are you guys gonna do now then? Melody has gone off and found that Rembrant guy" Robin looked up at the Warriors hang out.
"I suppose while i'm here I should introduce myself to Swan, I think I'm going to hang out for a while. Have a little tour of the place" She said. Mercy grinned.
"I'll take you inside, Swan is my boyfriend. I'm sure it won't be a problem for the other girls to hang around" she said. Robin followed Mercy inside along with Vermin and the other Harlot chicks, the smile still hadn't left her face.
----------------------
"So when did you get into all of this?" Robin asked. After Robin had spoken to Swan the two had set off around Coney along with Rembrant and Melody, walking around, playing around the fun fair and eventually going there seperate ways. Now the two were sitting on a bench watching the waves break. He broke off a peice of her bright blue candy floss and shoved it in his mouth before answering.
"I dunno, I guess it was when I was a teenager. I met Cleon and he was talking about joining a gang that used to be around Coney called the Destroyers. We started there and I had never felt so...together, you know? Like I was with people who were just like me. My home life had never been that great and for the first time I had a family" He said, looking out towards the sea. Robin just nodded, interested and wanting him to go on.
"So, why did you leave the Destroyers?" She asked. He laughed but it was a bitter and strained laugh.
"The top guy was a real jerk. He started to treat Cleon and I like total errand boys and set us up. There was this deal going with another gang and it went wrong. Cleon and I ended up running for our lives" He said.
"What gang was it?" She asked. Vermin raised an eyebrow.
"What do you mean?" He asked. Robin pulled another peice of candy floss from its stick.
"What gang did you do the deal with?" She said again, putting the peice of candy floss in her mouth.
"The Satans Mothers" Suddenly Robin becan to cough and make choking sounds, struggling to push the candy floss from her throat. Eventually it came free.
"Did you just say the Satans Mothers?" She said, breathing heavily.
"Well...yeah why?" Vermin asked, rubbing her back. Robin grinned.
"Thats my Dad's gang" she said. Vermins face fell while Robin continued to smile. "Well don't look so thrilled" she joked. Vermin let our a nervous laugh.
"Seriously, your Dad is in that Gang?" He asked. Robin nodded, shoving another piece of candy floss in her mouth.
"Well yeah, thats how I got into this whole thing. My Mom never liked it but my Dad would always take me out with him to the hang out and I was practically raised by them and I just loved it" she said. After a moment she decided to ask another question. "Who's Cleon?" Vermin opened his mouth and then shut it again, like he had forgotten what he was going to say.
"Cleon was our War Cheif and one of my best friends. We started the Warriors together after we left the Destroyers. He got killed the night of the big meeting, I forgot that you hadn't met him" Robin moved closer to him and he put his arm around her.
"That night must have been so hard for you guys" She said. Vermin smiled.
"Well it wasn't exactly a high point in our lives, no" Robin just nodded. Suddenly there was a frantic voice behind them and they turned around to see Melody and Rembrant running towards them.
"You have to come quickly! There's Riff's marching from the Subway!" Rembrant shouted. The couple both sprang from where they were sitting, following the other two hand in hand.
From the subway stairs, decended a group of sex Riff's all in orange Gi's with a man dressed in black at the front. They marched towards the small group, eventually circling them. The man in black stepped towards Robin.
"Robin, you have to come with me" He said sharply. Robin took a deep breath and stepped forward, her hand still in Vermins.
"On who's orders!?" She said, standing her full height. The Riff didn't look in least bit impressed with her and sneered.
"Maisi has ordered us to bring you and the rest of you home" Vermin stepped infront of Robin, his jaw set in anger.
"Well you're going to have to deal with us first" He said, staring the man in the eye. For a moment Robin almost forgot what a dangerous situation they were in, she was a bit of a sucker for a strong guy. Rembrant followed Vermins lead and moved Melody behind him without saying a word. The man in black sniggered.
"I'm not sure if you're brave or stupid. You two could never take us on, even on your turf" He spat. Robin quickly moved between the two men.
"No! No fighting! We'll go alright!" She said, her hands pressed against Vermin's chest, pushing him back. She turned back to the man in black.
"We'll go okay? Give me 5 minutes to get my girls and we'll come with you" She said quietly. The man in black nodded.
"Alright, you have 5 minutes" He snapped. Robin nodded and let him walk away. Vermin turned her around so she was facing him.
"You shouldn't have to go..." He started but he was cut off by her hand over his mouth.
"I know! Look i'll play his game tonight, i'll go back and sort all this out okay? I'm not going to cause a street fight!" She said. Vermin stood silently for a moment then finally nodded, Robin's hand still over his mouth. "Can I move this now?" She said. He nodded again and she moved her hand. "Just promise me you'll keep out of trouble?" She asked. Her flashed her a grin.
"When do I ever get into trouble?" She grinned back before leaning in and kissing him, her arms around his neck. There was a tap on her shoulder and with a scowl she pulled away and turned to look behind her, her arms still aroung Vermins neck.
"Time to go" the man in black said. Robin growled and walked over to Melody, tears running down the blonde girls face. All Vermin could do was watch with Rembrant as Robin and her girls were dragged towards the subway.

Re: The Gramercy Harlots - Part 2
Wow, this is really different, but really good at the same time. If there's one thing that would be a good change, it would be if you just posted these all in the same thread. Like, make a reply to your first chapter to post the second, you know what I mean? That's just for organizational purposes, so that if someone bumps one of the chapters people who want to read the rest don't have to wade through all the other stories to find them.
Other than that, this is brilliant.
