that would be very cool if your friend is right. i love the idea of the original cast members playing a role opposite of the original.

I love the idea of seeing any of the originals in anything.

And I can see Ajax turning into a cop--it would fit his need to control, even if in the movie, James plays someone we haven't met yet---he'll be good at it no matter what.

Perhaps we could get MESTIZO69 to confirm your friend's report, since he is James Remar's nephew. I'll try pming him :)

Unless Jerry Hewitt is in the yellow and black facepaint how would you recognize him in the remake? Still...cool info if true.

based on the basic story---I don't know how they would give large roles to anyone as old as the original cast is now. There are only so many adults in this story--so they either have to be cops or youth workers or subway riders that are just passing through. Much as I hate to admit---all the originals are well into middle age---and even if they age as well as James Remar or Michael Beck have--they are still way too old for major parts in a teenage gang movie.

Just to update everyone -

I just heard back from MESTIZO69. He said he would try to talk to James Remar about this, but can't promise anything because James really doesn't like to talk about the Warriors. I'll keep you posted.

I am betting he, like alot of stars, doesn't believe in getting into current discussions about past projects that old. They believe what they are doing/in NOW is what is important and what the focus should be---Past is Past-and even tho it was was a good thing for their careers--they don't live in it anymore--and don't really see why anyone else does either.

the Warriors is such a cult favorite classic, with so many fans--all the stars pretty much have to live with it---But very few of them emphasize it anymore.
And they won't bring it up first. And won't dwell on it any more than they have to.
just my thoughts on it.

Hey Ranchgal...I think you are absolutley correct. Similar to when bands tour and they want to play the newer stuff and of course everyone wants to hear the classics.

Of course you could aproach this subject without even bringing up the Warriors.

"Hey Uncle James, got any new roles coming up."

Technically, this is about a future role and not the 1979 original movie.
