Post by War-Lord »

In the Subway scene or any other sces in the movie could you guys give me some pics of the graffiti in the movie. I mean 1979 was the pivotal moment in Graffiti when everyone and the brother was doing it in NYC. I was just seeing if I could pick up names that I have scene before and say "Wow I saw that guys tag on " The Warriors" movie.  Can anybody post any pictures, subway, walls, it doesn't matter.

I have some pics here. Sorry $now, not trying to steal your thunder, but I did this same thing myself for a friend to use in a project on street art a while back. I still have the pics on my hard drive.

They have all the unneccessary stuff around them cropped out.

Interesting topic.  I always thought that graffiti was part of a universal language and culture in which only the armies of the night can understand, and control.  Just like a historian, it takes a top notch expert to interpret this language.  Graffiti is part of this gang world, in which we will never understand.  Its a code, that only these members, of this alternate world can understand. Just like old dinosaur fossils, or ancient artifacts, they are remains of an event that previously happened, in which we would have to be there in order to know what the graffiti is really telling us.  Sometimes it could have a real complex story to tell us, or sometimes it could mean the most useless piece of garbage that is taken up precious space.  To some it is an art form, and to some it is meaningless.  But graffiti is part of a world in which you have to read in between the lines in order to contemplate on its true power.  Its a puzzle that needs the full potential of the human mind to unlock.  Just like any other ancient language, like hieroglyphics, or ancient Hebrew.  Maybe I am exaggerating on comparing it to beautiful languages like those two, but its still part of a world, that has its own culture and origin.
