i must say i think it was better to be made in the 70s when it was.if they would have made it shortly after the book in the 60s then i dont think the film would have had the same feel as the 70s one has

Exactly Vermin76, The Warriors was made in a window, just before a lot of the city was beginning to be cleaned up.  The backdrop was perfect.  The subway offered the guys much more freedom than it would today.  Too much earlier, and the city is still too nice.

Very tight read indeed, incredabley well researched. Avery good mix of history, a background of both fiction and reality - great stuff, totally worth reading. Good to see the site in their too.
The one worrying thing was this:

"Hill even toyed with the idea of placing The Warriors in the future, which could have seen some influence from Alien creeping in..."

That would have killed the whole film, right?
