I don't really read manga, but I don't mind D.N.Angel and Sgt. Frog. I haven't bought any lately, mainly because it's pretty expensive for something that I can read in about thirty minutes, but if there's another spring break sale at Chapters then I'll probably buy more.

Oh boy! This thread is full of stereotypes!

Anyways

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (the manga - not the anime)
Fist of the North Star (Manga and Anime both have their advantages)
Berserk (Manga only)
Cowboy Bebop (This is a freaking given)
GANTZ (Manga only. The anime is a disgrace)
Hajime no Ippo (Anime and Manga BOTH rule)

Those are my favorites.

I absoulotley love Princess Mononoke! :D

San took his dagger that Kaya gave him...

If I was Kaya...I'd be a little mad. I mean she gave it to him for HIM to keep. Not HER to take.

Furuba is one of my favorites, I bawled so hard the first time I watched it, haha.  I love the Samurai Champloo series, hip hop + samurai sword fighting is such a cool mix.

My taste in anime is kind of weird... I'll only watch the extreme/horror type anime, the typical cheesy love story kind, or something with an original/stylish plot such as SC.

Jigoku Shoujo is one of my favorites though.  For those who don't know, It's about a website that sends people immediately to hell, but also forces you into a contract; so that when you die your soul will also go to hell.  I always thought the great thing about that anime is that you can start from any episode, since they're all about different situations and people, and how they use this website to their own benefit.   Some of the episodes are disturbing and bloody, but nothing extreme.  It's a cool concept though.   :D

my favorite anime series is macross SDF-1(aka robotech in the US) from the 1980's.

i'm sure the younger crowd has no idea what the heck macross/robotech is but it was really one of the first japanese animes to hit american broadcast TV and really changed the entire fabric of the american cartoon industry.
what made the show so interesting was the fact that the story was an action/drama/love story all in one and at that time, this concept was totally unheard of.  most american cartoons were pretty cut and dry, just the standard good guy vs. bad guy or slaptick comedy.  there was no depth to the stories or the characters, it was simply 30 minutes of animation, the end.  the macross saga tells the story and the lives of characters over 36 episodes.   the anime did so well that they continued the series with "Robotech: Southern Cross" followed by "Robotech: The Next Generation".

if you have a chance, try to rent the series, you won't be disappointed.  the animation is a bit dated but the story still holds even today.   they also made a condensed version of the series into a movie called Macross "Do You Remember Love".  the animation kicks some serious booty(in comparison to the original) but the story is hard to follow since they're squeezing 36 episodes into a 2 hour flick.

also check out Macross Plus(totally ROCKS!) as well as Macross Zero(the animation is UN-FRIGGIN-REAL and is the most recent addition to the macross saga.)

and incase anyone is wondering why i keep saying macross/robotech, is because Macross was the name of the original series from japan but when they brought the series to the US, they changed the name to Robotech.

but man, why did the second and third generations of Robotech have to suck so hard?

The best episode was when the SDF-1 teams up with the one Zentraedi fleet, and the two of them fight that super huge fleet while whatsherface sings in the background to distract them.

my science teacher made us watch the show. Had he more time he would have made us watch the Roughnecks: Starship Trooper chronicles, which was a pretty good series.

But I'm the stereotypical type as Dopefish said, I've always liked the U.C. Timeline Gundam series, Stardust memory, Zeta Gundam, Char's Counterattack, etc.

And who here thought that the Cowboy bebop movie blew really hard?

LOL!  honestly, i feel sort of the same way about them, i liked next gen but i loathe southern cross, some poeple liked it but i just don't.
why did it suck so hard?  short answer, because it wasn't made by the japanese.
they(americans) created both southern cross and next generation out of thin air.  they threw in jargon about protoculture and used a couple of character names to combine them all since they already had an existing fanbase under the robotech name.  it makes sense to us, but the japanese give no acknowledgement for either of the series as they are both considered totally craptacular. :p

aTV in class?  wow, you had one cool science teacher!   we were lucky when we got to watch to kill a mockingbird.....oh what a treat that is for your average teenager.
