New Location / Gang / UMD / Apache Ramos Info

Post by War Chief »

I get a nice steady stream of e-mail and comments about the website (about 3 - 5 a day!) which is cool. I've had a fair few today with loads of Warriors information:

1. - The Turnbull AC chase was filmed in the East New York section of Brooklyn under the J-Line, near Broadway Junction. The Homocides or Crazy Homocides were big in East New York, as well as, other gangs. During this period East New York was the homocide capital of New York City, no pun intended. So filming a movie of this nature in this hood was fitting. - From PJAY71.

2. - The track-fire scene is still on the J-M Line on the Broadway & Myrtle station in Bushwick Brooklyn. This dumps the Warriors on foot where they run into the Orphans. One of the Orphans on the rooftop is Apache, from the real 70's gang called the Devils Rebels. Apache is known for his contributions to a popular 70's gang-dance called Rock, Uprock or Brooklyn Rock. I wish The Warriors would have featured a scene with gangs performing this dance - it would've hit home. From PJAY71.

3. - The set they built was at the Astoria Studios in Long Island City - Queens. From Paul.

4. The UMD of The Warriors is out (for PSP) and is apparently cool on a small screen. From Rob.

I hope some of that info is interesting to you, especially to those drawing up maps of locations. I think the info on Apache is quite cool.

I think so. I think it is a correction to what's posted in the facts section.
