Confirmed Spec For Region 2 DVD

Post by War Chief »

I've been directly contacted by Paramount with the information regarding the Region 2 DVD which should now end some speculation. These are now confirmed as:

-Commentary by director Walter Hill

-7 Deleted/Extended/Re-Edited Scenes

-Original Theatrical Trailer and Photo Gallery

-Game Trailer

-The Warriors: An Introduction ? An on-camera intro by director Walter Hill about the new version of the film.

-The Beginning: From Novel To Screen ? Conversations with novelist Sol Yurick, screenwriter Walter Hill and the producers discuss the challenges of getting the film made at Paramount.

- The Battleground: Casting the Warriors - Walter Hill, cast members and others discuss casting, rehearsals and more.

- The Way Home: Making The Warriors - Walter Hill and the producers discuss the making of the film, the production design, cinematography, locations, costumes, stunts, editing and more.

- The Phenomenon: Releasing the Warriors - Walter Hill & others discuss how it became a cult classic.

Run Time is ~90 minutes & Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound. It will be an 18 certificate and will use the Region 2 artwork below.

Great news warchief. I was really starting to worry after hearing about region 1. Was even contemplating leaving it a bit before buying. Now i'll be getting it straight away. Doesn't seem fair for americans to get a 2nd rate version. I imagined they'd get the best extras and we'd get the mucky brown end of the stick. Some people are gonna have to invest in multi region players i guess.

Thank you, Walter Hill, for having just a little pride in the country and city you made the movie in! *sigh*

Rockstar won't let me down now, will they?
When we get there; that's when we've made it.

my responses to the quote below are in YELLOW. ( just like the furies leader's face  )

this sounds like An Introduction by Walter Hill, which we have it on USA R1 DVD.

-7 Deleted/Extended/Re-Edited Scenes

this sounds fishy to me. i have a feeling for those re-edited scenes are all cartoon scenes. not sure about deleted and extended scenes but they do show clips (not WHOLE!) of the alternate opening on the boardwalk in "The Phenomenon" featurette.

-Original Theatrical Trailer and Photo Gallery

USA R1 DVD has a trailer. No photo gallery but we do have animated title menus.

-Game Trailer

Yep we have that on R1 DVDs too. it's Rockstar's first trailer shown in their website, only much clearer on DVD

-The Warriors: An Introduction ? An on-camera intro by director Walter Hill about the new version of the film.

maybe this is a commentary that i mentioned above? anyway, we do have the introduction but there are NO commentaries on R1 DVDs.

- The Phenomenon: Releasing the Warriors - Walter Hill & others discuss how it became a cult classic.

we have all these 4 featurettes - about 1 hour total

Run Time is ~90 minutes & Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound. It will be an 18 certificate and will use the Region 2 artwork below.

USA R1 contains English 5.1 Surround, English 2.0 Surround, French Mono.. English and Spanish subtitles.. Widescreen, Rated R and 93 minutes.

If the R2 is better, sorry to sound sore but that's majorly MESSED up and I'm PISSED off. The Warriors is a freaking NYC LEGENDARY CLASSIC MOVIE and we don't get the good stuff but the countries of R2 do? While I'm happy for those fans of course, fandom for THE WARRIORS knows no boundaries, that's still a CROCK of you-know-what. If this is all true, I guess I'll finally pick up that R2 player.

Really, that comic-book Creepshow crap is horrible. Absolutely horrible. I have a feeling this new version gets played once, and that's that. Like I said elsewhere, I'd rather a re-release of the present version with the featurettes added.
Big Cyrus. He was gonna run the whole city...what crap that was.

yeah.. i understand how you feel.. i already decided to keep the 1st release of the DVD which i was planning to sell in eBay. good thing i didn't sell before the new DVD came out.

speaking of Creepshow, did anyone know that Creepshow 3 is coming out in 2006?

Got a question... The original R1 dvd is 90 minutes long and the new is 93...? If the new opening scene is about a minute, are the other 2 minutes from re-editing, comic-book crap? Are any other shots different? Longer etc...

:) d
I'll show you how I play

A NTSC R1 DVD that last 93 minutes will last about 90 minutes when transferred to PAL R2. This is because of PAL's 4% Speedup.

Joepal can you give me a few of those stores? Not even so much for The Warriors but for anything I may really want badly, to get it a tad early. Thanks!
