A public service announcement regarding the rules

For once, this is a rule related announcement not directed at new people. This is directed towards seasoned members on here, and a rather disturbing trend that I have noticed.

I've been seeing a marked increase in posts that serve no purpose other than to tell new bloods that they have violated the rules. I'm not going to name any names, but there are some people who are more guilty than others in that respect.

Can we please stop doing this? Just report the posts or PM a mod. If a mod wants to call them out in the thread, then they can, but the backseat modding by members does nothing but waste your five posts per day and clutter up the threads. There is no official rule against this, but this is just a friendly request from myself.

To reiterate, if you see a rule-breaking post, let a mod know. The easiest ways to do this are report or PM. Adding "Hey, you broke the rules!" while contributing nothing else makes your post almost as worthless as theirs because it does very little to alert the mods of a problem, seeing as how they will come across the offending post before yours anyway.

Well, no problem...
... even if I'd like to defend (for a while only) Members "doing things like that", and I just think to be in.
I mean, sometime a newblood, registered for istance today, makes his first post in the Proving Grounds... and his 2nd and 3rd where he cannot... so, why? Why people, I think, pretend not to understand the rules while most of us follow them (and this is the right way of enjoying the Forum)???
But, yeah... there's the "Report to Mods" button... and about your friendly request... you have my vote!!!
I hope, anyway, my posts aren't somehow (and also thanks to the shoutbox if used like a sorta "Alertbox", I think you what I mean) "wasted posts".

The Swan, I just thought I'd clarify that I'm very appreciative of people wanting to help the site. However, allow me to use the two people you called out last night as an example. I had banned one of them ten hours before you posted, and the other six hours before you posted. I realize you had no way of knowing that, but those posts wouldn't have done a lot of good even if they hadn't been dealt with yet. All they did in this case was berate someone who was already banned long before.

You see what I'm saying? The best thing you can do for the site is tell a mod about the post.

On a similar note, if it's an obvious spam thread like "I AM KINGCLEON" or "THIS SITE SUCKS!", I don't think anyone would care if you went nuts, seeing as how the thread would be deleted in the end anyway. That's just my perspective though.
