The Warriors Movie Site Forum

I had an interesting idea this morning for the forum - have two different levels of membership, a free one for the general population, and one that offers "something more" for a nominal monthly fee.

I also post on a forum called fark.com. It's basically a news server with links to all kinds (50-60 per day) of weird news stories, and allows users to comment and post photographs, etc. There also have photoshop contests, and whatnot. That's on the "free" level.

They also have a paid level of membership for only $5/month, called TotalFark. They get to see 1500 or more links a day and get an extra day's notice for photoshop contests, and get access to links that free members don't.

I don't know how we'd set it up here. But I know if I had the same option here that I do on FARK (I don't take it there), I would pay the $5/month. I don't know what could be offered to paying members that they can't see now on the regular forum, and I'm not suggesting taking anything away from those who could not pay the $5/month (or whatever amount). It's just a suggestion for a future upgrade.

Sounds like a good idea. I'd be up for it.

I would pay.. But what would this second level contain? I mean we cover everything already I think. COuld meake people pay for te off topic boards like. movie chat etc.

I honestly don't think it's such a great idea. Alot of people probably wouldn't be able to pay it, and they would start to feel left out as a bunch of the members who could pay talk in the pay area.

I agree. It could also lead to a two-tiered society here. "Who cares about your opinion, you're not even a pay member!" type stuff. Besides all that, what could possibly be added that would be worth paying five dollars for? I can't think of anything.

IMO,it would be better if we could organize something like 'The Warriors fan club',with subscription paid once a year,the profit would help to modernize this site.Make some shirts and fan club membership cards for the members,and that's it.What do you guys think?

I would.  Check this out, IMDB has one and you figured that what else could you talk about in this site that hasn't already been discussed other than movies right.  You'll be surprised IMDB has this special thing that you pay for every month and you enter a complete world.

i have always liked the pay idea


if we did it...i dont think we would take anything away

but rather offer more to pay people


interviews before the gen public see them

also pay members would be able to take part in interviews vs the general public who couldent (asking questions etc)

i know it isnt "fair" to people who cant pay but, thats life...i love the idea...ill see what i can do  8)

Sounds awsome, if its anything like the the IMDB pay-sections. I would definitly pay. Really, anyone can afford it, if you have internet, its only a few dollars more than what your paying now.

My only concern is that we would lose alot of great respected members, the majority of good posters on this site log in a couple times a month, I doubt they would pay every month, when they don't even use the forum for long periods of time, we've gotten along fine without it.

I like the idea of having a pay site (for obvious reasons as this site costs me $480 a year to run  )

I also like the idea of a "fan club" which offers a bit more than what's already here. What though I am not sure.

However, I don't want to create a two-tiered society, or alienate people who can't afford it. However, people who claim they are too young to pay, are probably too young to be on here?

I'll watch how the voting progresses and see what the majority say.
