A suggestion regarding New Bloods...

As everyone here knows, new members of the forum are relegated to making their first ten posts in the proving grounds. In theory, this is a great idea. In practical use, this just leads to them not reading the rules and posting outside the proving grounds, only to be yelled at by another member for it.
Would it be possible to simply make it so that people with less than ten posts can't post in the other forums? There should be a permissions system built into the administrative functions of the board that allows this, as I've seen it in action on other forums before. In any case, it would remove the need for people to tell new bloods to go back to the proving grounds simply because they wouldn't be able to post anywhere else. The same sort of thing could be done for the off topic sections, where anyone with less than 250 posts can't post or reply in there.
I am fairly certain that this is possible to do, at least technically. Of course, the admins have a much better idea than I do of how the software works. Thus I ask them: would this not make sense, and is it possible to do with the software we have?

I think that is a very good idea maybe War Chief could use the same technology that him and the moderators do were your not allowed to enter the forum because your banned but can you use that same technology to say until they get ten posts there banned from the other topic and use the same technology for people who don't have 250 posts for The Coney Island Chat.

Well if you want them to read the rules the administator should do this when new members join the forum and when they have registered before login it says nwe members should read the rules before login that is what i would do.

The problem is that "Read the rules" is plastered everywhere already, yet people STILL don't actually read them. The only way to make sure that new bloods actually stay in their section is by forcing it, as people just don't care enough to actually read the rules of the forum they just joined.

Well,What can you say..If they cannot read..
That's too bad for them..It only leaves them open for
people like myself,to [glow=red,2,300]
OWNED!!![/glow] Them.
And when that happens, watch them run for the hills..

But Also in their defense, they may actually have
something of merit to contribute here.
And if they do,Than that's only making it good for us..
because,as long as someone has an opinion..
People will still post!!

and so on..

Total agree-ance? Ignorance is no excuse to the "law" as they say
but making it so they dont have the ability to vote in other boards would work very well IMO

I did actually think that was how I set it up, but there was something preventing it from working. Even if we did this we'd get inundated by people asking why they can only post in one forum, and we'd still be redirecting them to the rules....
