I was going to post this question in another thread, but since we're on the subject... how does "banning" work?

If someone is banned (not that I'm planning on it), does that mean they simply can't post or PM, or does it mean they are blocked completely from accessing the forum. I was banned (permanently) from a site that tried to copy and rip on this one (after only two posts), and I couldn't even access the site at all. Does this work the same way, or can they still "view only"?

we have the old school before we were all jerk mod bans

where...maybe you could pm but not post....i use to let people have that somtimes...then the ban would expire in a few days 1-2

then we all upgraded beacuse it got crazy when you get banned now....i dont know if you can see the site but you can post or pm.

if you really push it we knock your IP out and your gone forever it doesnt expire...(thats my fav one )

we can stop you from doing pm's it all depends on what was done and how we wanna treat it

every computer has an ip adress, the mods can check people's accounts, if they have the same ip then they have 2 accounts, or if someone is banned they can figure out if they made another accounts by searching their ip.

But I'm an administrator on an rpg site, http://www.gta-ultra.net/ , There are ways to ban ip adresses, so they can't even make a new account, but a few people know also ways to change your ip.

who you get your internet from...

the account owner on your internet

and the ability to contact your service prodiver

and in a few crazy case's, i believe we have done that
