In 1971 a uniformed British soldier in Belfast in Northern Ireland becomes separated from his unit at night, and has to fight his way back to his barracks (somehow having lost his automatic rifle and armed only with a knife) - pursued by Irish nationalists who do have firearms.

(Why not just run to any nearby Unionist area of Belfast especially as not difficult since they make up the greater city area overall and certainly did by far in 1971? I hear you say. Well the scriptwriters thought of that and see early on the concocted way in which doing that fails to work)
