More Warriors clone movies this week - Papillon, Behind Enemy Lines, Runner

Post by warriorswannabe »

Monday

11.15pm, Papillon, 5 Action. 1973 movie - (in the 1930's) a convict flees "Devil's Island" (actually a series of coastal penal colonies in what is today French Guiana in South America).

Said to be true at the time of release, but these days believed to be fake or very embellished.

10pm, Behind Enemy Lines, ITV 4. (During the forced lifting of the siege of Sarejevo in late 1995) USAF fighter navigator Chris Burnett finds himself flying the lone Christmas day mission over war-torn Bosnia. But when he talks pilot Stackhouse into flying slightly off-course to check out an interesting target, the 2 get shot down. Burnett is soon alone, trying to outrun the pursuing Bosnian Serb army, while commanding officer Reigert finds his rescue operation hamstrung by politics.

Tuesday night

1.35am, Runners, Film 4. 1983 movie - a group of distressed parents from across Britain co-operate to search for and then chase after their runaway children in London.

(I always wonder if anyone pitched the idea to the American media for a remake in New York etc. Strange premise but a good movie).

"Oh no, he isn't my son" - mistaken distressed mother on catching up with a fleeing kid. No - but it is the child actor who played Gonch Gardner in Grange Hill.
