Anyone knows?

Post by Baby Bear »

I have a Ipod shuffle and I bought three new songs to go on it. I have them in my Music library and I want to put them in my Ipod. When I drag the songs name onto the Ipod icon it settles for a moment and then comes on my playlist. Now When it comes on my playlist a small gray dot appears in front of the songs name. If you have a Ipod can u tell me what the deal is plz?

But sometimes mines say..."Disc cannot be read or written from" even when I don't have a Cd in inside.
This happens when I put my songs on the Ipod.

You don't, at least not legally. The iTunes program recognizes which songs were purchased through iTunes and which were copied from CDs or other media. You can copy a CD onto your computer and then onto your iPod, but those songs will not transfer from your iPod to another computer. This is to prevent piracy.

Got a flash drive? You can transfer mp3 files that way if you don't want to reload all your CDs again.
Thats crappy, whats a flash drive? And how do I know if I have one?

If you don't know what it is, you don't have one - but you should be able to get one at an electronics store. We have them here in the US right at the cash registers in department stores, so we can get them anywhere, pretty much.
Flash drives are great and very affordable in Australia there very hand with school assignments and transferring things to other computers.

This is why I don't have an iPod, it's complicated. And they say "it's easy! anybody can do it!" well, I think they were wrong.  ::)

Of course just thinking about it makes it confusing to me.

you can download the songs from limewire and import them into itunes, and before someone says its illegal i can tell you that its not if you already own the CD. My ICT teacher told me once when he was teaching us about copyright laws.

This is correct. However, it is much more effective to just rip the CD to your hard drive, which is also legal and gets you better quality on the recording. You end up with mp3 files of the music just the same, but without the time spend downloading and the varying bitrates.

Lime wire is actually handing out fines up to one hundred thousand dollars so I don't use it anymore.

That's the RIAA handing out the fines, not Limewire, and you only have to worry about them if you live in the USA. They don't hold jurisdiction anywhere else.
