This is old school soul humor. I remember I saw this back to back with Do The Right Thing. Bothe are good in their respective category.

This was a classic. Did you all ever see "Hollywood Shuffle"? That also came out back then, or "House Party" with Kid and Play.

I remember House Party. This guy in my high school had the tower afro like "Play".
