Heath Ledger has died in his Aparment apparently due to drunks.

Jesus, did anyone else see that coming? 

Holy crap! I didn't even know he did drugs!

Man and he was only 28, that's too young...

Shocking heard it on the radio in my friends car far out with his new movie and all.

I should have been more specific. I think they said it was prescription drugs. Accidental overdose 

I took a quick look on the internet today and the first news story I found said his cause of death was still not determined but accidental prescription drug overdose was hinted at. Then I found another link on a sort of Hollywood gossip site that said he was found naked facedown on the bedroom floor "surrounded" by pills" (just the sort of sensationalist tripe you'd expect from a gossip site, and not necessarily to be trusted).

I wouldn't be surprised if it was an accidental prescription drug overdose. A lot of rising star actors like Ledger have to work grueling hours and put in insane back to back days for weeks at a time, so I'm sure sometimes using stimulants and sleeping pills must seem like the only way to maintain the pace of a superhuman schedule. Young actors especially can't afford to "take a break" if they're still on their way up the star ladder and the pressure to keep working constantly to remain in the public eye can be pretty intense.

I'm totally curious if the Terry Gilliam film he was working on can still be edited or released or if the Batman movie will be Ledger's "last" film. Even though their collaboration on The Brothers Grimm was sort of disappointing I'd still love to see this other project if possible.

By the way, at the risk of getting back "On Topic"...don't you think out of all the contemporary actors today Ledger might have been one of the only ones to pull off a convincing portrayal of Swan in a Warriors remake? Just a thought!

A friend of my Mum's is a stunt woman who said she has worked with him a few times and told us that he was a terrible insomniac and he took pills to help him sleep.

I heard in an interview that he was averaging about two hours of sleep a night while working on the Terry Gilliam film and mentioned he was taking Ambien to get to sleep. As a fellow insomniac I know how crummy it is to be unable to pass out even when you know you have to be back at work in a few hours. The old brain just refuses to shut off sometimes. I'm sure the guy was under pretty intense pressure since he was the main character of the film too. Can't really sleepwalk through a scene when you're the center of attention. Pretty sad...

thats sad, he was such a great actor

I do feel bad and I have to say I can't relate. I've never suffered from insomnia but I've heard its horrible.

Ledger was way to young

he was a brill actor and theres that new movie he did which is out this year.

Yeah I was torn by this, I have watched nearly all of his movies and was really exited about 'The Dark Knight'. But when I see it now I'm going to get a weird eerie feeling. Everyone will surely be able to tell that parts of it will seem so ironic.

The only movies I haven't seen is 'Two Hands', which I own a copy of for both VHS and DVD. And Brokeback Mountain.

If his death was declared a suicide, it just would not make sense to me. I'm sure if he was going under a state of deppression, the hollywood paparazzi would have found out long ago.

So, in my thought, it was an accidental take of sleeping pills and other prescribed drugs.

Did anyone see the news report about Jack Nicholson, following Heath's death. I'm pretty sure that during an interview, he explained that he too had used the drug, and was close to his own death, and that he had wanted to warn any other actors about the drug.

I call bullsh*t on that one... Jack said he almost died from the medicine too.... ya know why? It's a sleeping pill... which he took right before he went driving. If you honestly take a sleeping pill and then take a drive in your car, it's pretty safe to assume you might not come back.

I never seen any film with him in so i don't know too much about him, I did however know he was gonna play the joker and i hear he was gonna be a better one than jack nicolson too, so i hope they still have him in the film and don't edit it.

I doubt they'd edit him out....I mean to do that they would have to just about remake most of the film!

Heath plays a very good joker in batman
