...and Swan 1979 already straightened me out about the new posts being in this section---please forgive my laziness in overlooking this first step here.

I've been a WARRIORS fan since 1980, when I watched it on WHT (anyone remember that) for the first time.  I have since seen it over 50 times, including recently at a revival theater here in NY (met lots of real fans there).

Although I'm a big horror film and book fan, THE WARRIORS is my all time favorite film, and I have yet to meet a horror fan who doesn't love the Warriors, either.

I also (finally) read Sol Yurick's 1965 novel a few years ago, and enjoyed it.  I have to admit it gave me a whole new outlook on the film (especially after reading Yurick's long introduction in this newer edition), but the film may have never worked if it followed the book to the tee (it featured an all-black gang who were much more vicious than the gang of the film, plus it was hugely symbolic of black indpendence, taking place on the 4th of July).  If you haven't read the novel, at least look for this newer edition and read Yurick's introduction . . . there's some amazing pieces of info any fan of the film will savor.
