The Warriors Movie Site Forum

Since the film started essentially from scratch, wouldn't it be great if there was a pre-quel to The Warriors? I mean, the game did come up with some interesting scenarios on how each member came to join, and how Cleon & Vermin started it all. Also, whatever back story moviemakers would ultimately come up with would work. The movie is nothing like the book, and even the book didn't have any clear origin of any of the gang members. Does anybody  have any suggestions? I'd like to hear them.

Well the The Warriors is unique, because of that whole conclave, and a group of underdogs fighting their way home, and battling their own demons and leaving their name and legacy behind.  You make an interesting point, but the warriors is a movie that only concentrates on that event, and that significant event alone, as for prequals and sequals, those are things that should only be left to an individual imagination, rather than being put on the big screen.  The movie is one element that should stand alone.

A pre-quel?  Man this would really kill the movie, just like the remake!

A pre-quel?  Man this would really kill the movie, just like the remake!

the remake wont kill the movie,ive med my point in the warriors 2008 forum so i aint repeating myself lol, but a prequel wouldnt be a good idea i dont think

I agree, but all I'm saying is that it would be nice to see what led up to that one event and how those underdogs came to be. I do see your point however, being a fan of the novel, I would hate to see the  original story spiced up & dissected even more. Point taken.

I can understand everyones point of view here. I'm always looking for anything that can give just a little more on what happened and why the Warriors were. The game is what I go off of, just because it's the only thing there is to show a little background. I don't think a prequel would work though A.) I don't think the original fans would take to kindly to new actors comming in and trying to take over the characters. B.) Who in the world would be able to direct it but Walter Hill himself? I don't know how he would feel about that. Because the movie was meant I think to make you want more. And if there was another one, it would kill that idea.

yeh and also rockstar would have to be paid a lot been a sthey practically made up the flashback missions so a prequel is unlikeley to happen.

that would be cool but its not it not even going to be called the warriors itll be the warors or something stupid like that but me my brother are working on a home made warriors movie (ill be recording it):))

Well of course Ihave somthin inspiring to say,it sure be nice to see more warriors and not just da 9 but more neibhorhood Warriors and for real showem how they interact in there enviroment esp, wit other gangs, I personally think the games enlightnen but also a little overexagerating warrior lifestyle ,although it is agame and not reallife.

I think the prequel story of the game was very interesting. I think it would be cool if it were a movie as well.

i dont think a prequel would work . thats what makes the tv version so good

I think the idea of a movie Prequel is a good one. Of course we all know that it's never gonna happen, but lets presume that it's only 1981 and all of the original actors ares still young and willing to play the same roles.

If the movie was based on the events leading up to "The Warriors", then obviously it would have to cover Cyrus' plan for the big meeting.  I think a lot of issues covered in the game could also be addressed. For example how the Warriors were formed, and how each Warrior became a member.

Seeing as it is a movie, it would have to have a point though. Not just be a lead up to "The Warriors".

With this in mind, maybe it could centre on the idea that Cleon was aware that the big meeting was going to happen, but was concerned that The Warriors did not have enough rep to be invited.

The Warriors are then required to prove to the Riffs that they are worthy of being invited. To do this they are tested by the Riffs by being invaded and having to Rumble their way out of trouble. Of course as Underdogs, they win allowing them to be invited to the Conclave.

Just an idea. I'm sure some of you people with talent for writing can come up with something better.

I guess this would never happen, if so...I think they could make a whole new TV show out of it...

A prequal sounds pretty good in this scenario.
