Thoughts on Remake?
Thoughts on Remake?
I was just wondering, what do people think about all the talk of a remake? Do you think they could improve anything, or should they leave the legacy alone?
Also, if they did film a remake, what actors would you like to see?

the legacy of the warriors should not be messed with
Re: Thoughts on Remake?
First off, welcome newbloods. I think it would be hard to make a warriors movie as good as the original, but I would go see it anyhow. If it ever gets made.
Re: Thoughts on Remake?
wouldn't bother me none. i'd still have the original in my cabinet to watch whenever the moment struck.
Re: Thoughts on Remake?
As much as you can't touch the original,I would still like to see a remake.I dig the comics,I like the video game, hell,if there was a cartoon I would watch that too!Anything new and Warriors is good with me,besides,it would be cool to get more in depth with the story and plot.Cool to find out a little of their background, maybe answer the question of who Luther was always on the phone with, what happened to Cleon, get some more gangs thrown in the mix, more fighting, more members of the Warriors-remember these are only 9 delegates of the gangs, how many members are there in the Warriors, clean it up and make it new and fresh.I don't mind because the glorious thing is that the original will always exist and no new movie can take away from its awesomeness, even with all its flaws and miscues,it is a cult classic---dirty grimey gritty and RAW!!Without the video game coming out in 2005,how many younger people would have ever heard of the movie from '79...not many,so that helped create a whole new generation of Warriors fans, brought attention back to it,and I feel like a new movie will just help create another generation of Warriors fans, who then go and see the original, cementing the original in cult infamy forever as king ding a ling of ass kickin' classics!!!...Word.

Yeah, common sense told me a long time ago he was talking to a boss,I mean all these guys are just delegates, not the entire gang, and most likely not highest ranked members either so as not to endanger the high-ups,thats what I'd do,sent out the scout party with one Lieutenant to bring back info.My point was to have these things actually revealed and shown in a movie, you know,so its not all rumors and heresay and blind faith.Don't you guys wanna see this "Bossman",thats all I'm saying.Isn't anyone curious why these particular delegates got picked out of the ??? number of Warriors there are, there should just be more of the backstory brought to the forefront. How about some dialog out of the Furies, they're a gang that hangs out,I'm sure they're not acting like mimes or doing sign language in that basement, they gotta talk to each other, right?

The Furies have a phantom-like aura that would be ruined with dialogue, in my view.
Re: Thoughts on Remake?
I thought about that too,the mystique would definitely get diminished some, like if Jason started telling Freddy jokes in his movies,I hear ya,but tell me one line a Punk says,or one line a Turnbull AC has.Just one or two usable quotes is all I'm asking for,not for them to recite an entire Shakespeare sonnet.Classic one liners, short and simple and memorable.

I agree with Hiroglifx, anything that brings The Warriors (1979) to a wider audience, has got to be a good thing. I envisage a great opportunity for the original cast to be invited to the premiere! All indications suggest the remake will barely resemble the original, so it might be a good film in it's own right...but I doubt it

Remake? Don't make me laugh! What remake? It doesn't look like Tony Scott's exactly prioritized this project, does it?

Re: Thoughts on Remake?
Remakes are a bit iffy nowadays: a lot of the time they just defile the original (Starsky and Hutch anyone?). I think setting it in modern times will bring its own problems too. They had handguns and knives in the original but we'd probably be looking at Uzis and rocket launchers for the gang to avoid nowadays. Plus it depends how big a budget they give it: budgets can sometimes kill movies. The original wasn't that big a budget if I remember correctly and it came out a brilliant film. One hundred million on a remake and you might end up just looking at the special effects.
Re: Thoughts on Remake?
I believe that a remake would be awesome but lets open our thoughts how about if they made a movie based on how they got started just like in the game can you dig it

Re: Thoughts on Remake?
it would be hard to remake, but not impossible. they need to find actors that could have similar looks to the originals, just to make it authentic. And it needs to be in NYC, not out in LA.

There's no way in hell anything they would come up with could compare to the orginal, nuff said.
