Other types of media that resembles the Warriors

Post by CO9207 »

Any type of media that involves the warriors, be it books, movies, TV or Video Games

I know this one 80s arcade game, but I can't remember the title.

You play as three super tall guys, One White Guile from Street Fighter Looking character, One Black Mike Tyson looking character and an Asian Steven Seagal wannabe. You dress in Warriors like outfits except it's Blue, Yellow and Red unlike the warriors where it's brown. It also takes place in NYC like The warriors

There's wacky gangs like the Biker Gang at Times Square in level 1, the Clowns in Coney Island in level 2, the Hockey gang in the Lexington King Disco in Stage 3, a mad baseball fan gang in Yankee Stadium in stage 4, The army gang in the World Trade Center and the last stage where you fight all the gangs again in Long Island where you fight this girl? O_o

Can anyone help me remember this game?

Oh and feel free to discuss anything about any movie, TV show, book or Video game that reminds you of the warriors. Feel free to go nuts.

Thanx!

-Crash

there's a movie we were recently discussing called "1990: the bronx warriors" - that def seems to have borrowed from the warriors - i believe part 2 of that movie is called "the riffs" - which was posted by another member

Are you talking about "Bad Dudes"? I won't even get into the details. Me and my
best homie used to play the krap out of this in the mid to late 80's. I don't know
if this is the big arcade game you are referring too?

It's okay everybody! A friend of mine told me the name.

It's "The Combatribes" made by Technos.

Technos was the company that also made Double Dragon and River City Ransom.

on the subject of films resembling the warriors...

the warriors obviously owes something to a clockwork orange

uniformed gangs ... billy boys gang looked a little bit roguesish

plus clockwork was like the earliest example of a synth soundtrack - warriors soundtrack was also an important step, a years later, into 80s synth/rock themes

I've got a couple:

-There's this movie called "The Purifiers", it's a UK film. It's got a bunch of shots and concepts directly from the Warriors from what the trailer showed me. They even put their tagline as "The New Generation of Warriors". So, it's somewhere between rip-off and tribute. From what I've heard it sucks though.

-Streets of Fire. It's actually directed by Walter Hill also. It's an awesome movie and I'd definitely recommend it to any Warriors fan, it's actually what put me on to Warriors. Just like in The Warriors, it's in this weird, slightly futuristic, but slightly retro never-really-existed time period, where street gangs basically rule(they might've had uniforms too, I can't remember). There's a lot of neon lighting and the whole cinematography is really similar. The main guy reminds me of Swan a bit too, personality wise.

-There's a punk rock band called The Baseball Furies, they seem pretty decent. They use to dress up as The Furies while playing, but other than that, they're not really related.

-in Mystery Men, the main villain gathers together all the gangs (who all themed too) and even says "CAN YOU DIG IT?"
