Just an idea? A newbie to this site

I remember seeing trailers on TV back in '79 when The Warriors came out and I knew that I had to see this movie. It was one of those movies that made an impact on me and still to this day it holds up to the test of time. This movie still has the style, excitment and the surrealism that holds me captive even after watching it a hundred times since. I know there is a movie remake in the works to take place in modern day L.A. I think that idea stinks! Why can't the hollywood bigshots make a prequel of the same characters taking place in New York? Of course they'd have to use new actors but they could have a story line on how they characters met up and became a part of The Warriors gang. Maybe they'd have to travel to another part of town to rescue one of their own held hostage by a rival gang? The Warriors would of course meet up with other hostile gangs along the way.
The prequel for "Star Trek" was a hit and I really think the producers could take this aproach for The Warriors. Just an idea
