The Warriors outfit (book)

I was just wondering what sort of hat they wore as i was looking to recreate it.
I already know about the mercedes decal but not about what type of hat.
I was thinking either beret (because of the military theme) or trilby (because of the time period).

The outfit is something simular to the hawaii shirt gang during the nowhere to run montage.  The second page of chapter two (page 20 in the 1979 star edition) describes them as wearing a blue coloured button down collar shirt with a paisly print pattern, tight black chino trousers and a high crowned narrow brimmed straw hat  Doesnt say what colour, but they also had short monkey jackets and ankle high boots with elasticated sides.
