Who is against the 2008 remake?

I don't want to sound ..rude to anyone.. but when they're going to form new gangs... you think it's going to be less 80s and be more ..anti-ethnic? Because I think that's going to be more racism on this film but unintensionally.. or at least people are going to presume that.

I'm rarely too optimistic about remakes of older films, especially much-loved classics. The director might do a fair enough job, but it's extremely improbable that it will ever be considered nearly as good as the original. We're talking about a very popular cult classic that is still watched nearly thirty years after it was created. That's a real gem, and it's a rare hand that can possibly shape its equal.

I really don't want to see a bad film that I would be reminded of every time I watch a certain very good film. So, eh. I might not see it. I don't know, it depends on how much courage I have, and what kind of mood I'm in, on the day it comes out.

I'm also against the remake, since I don't think the remake can come even near the original movie. Beside that, when in 10 years from now someone mentions 'The Warriors' movie, I'm sure no one will think of the 2008 one.

Yes. I'm looking forward to the new movie. I'm sure it won't be as good as the original but I'm willing to give it a chance. Who knows, we might all be surprised.

As for the remake... obviously itll suck because in todays age when they remake a movie from its original version itll become less popular just like House of Wax with Paris Hilton..... But I wouldn't mind seeing the previews of the remake that is if it even involves anything solid from the original other than just a few names put onto the description of the film doesn't exactly mean its from the orginal. I read that it has the same storyline but then again it could be an entire new look to it with just using the title. As for gangs that may appear in the film it is likely they will completly different and probably use guns. There doesn't seem much of a future for this remake, I would like to see how it looks though.

1.It Would Be So Weird Looking At These Characters Who Sound Different And Look Completly different Than The Ones Were Use To!
2.It's Gona Be So Weird Hearing "Can You Diggg It!!" And Like "Warrriorrs Comee Out And Playyyy!!!" (Lol Get Sylvester Stalone To Do That!! "Yo, Adrian, I Mean Warriors Come Out To Playayaya!!!"

For-
1. Its Been About 30 Years Since the making And It Would Be Good To See A Remake Of It!
2. It May Have Some Big Names In It Which Are Really Skilled At Acting And Are Going To Make This Better Thna Ever!!!

My Verdict-

Make The Movie AnyWays Because in The End I Bet All True Warriors Fans Will Enjoy it Regardless!

That would be hard to say because considering the original has made such an impact, the remake could obviously never amount to the original which of course everyone can agree there, but once the original has made its popularity and then later on make a remake of it the fans of the original will direct its dedication to the remake as much. The remake sounds interesting but not really too ancious to see it hit theatres.

The remake might actually be good (haha sorry for going against the crowd here folks), just as in it might lead a whole new crowd to wonder where this modern day gang war-fare movie originated.. and might lead them to check out the timeless classic... not sure.. but I think we'll all have to actually see it before we can say its gonna be lame

Im not sure where I stand on the question of a remake infact from what ive read its not so much a remake as an interpretation. What I mean is Walter Hill took the novel by Sol Yurik which by my reckoning is set late 50's and used the concept but moved it up into the 70's. The gangs in the book are not the gangs in the film, neither are the gang members the only thing that is the same is its in NY, there is a meet  and the main gang in the story have to get home again when it all goes wrong. Now onto the new one, I believe what is being put forward is that Tony Scott will do something similar in that he will bring it into modern times just like Walter did except he plans to set it in LA (which personaly I think is a mistake) also the other problem I see is that in this day and age gangs no longer seem to brawl they just gun each other down which I  think will detract from the story. I will reserve jugment though until I see what has been done with it and how hes protrade the gang members though I dout any of the gangs will be from the novel or Walters film.

I really dont know how they could make this a succesfull film with it being set in present day. As others have said, it would be way easier for the new warriors to get back home then it was in the 70's, the storyline would just have too many holes in it. Everybody who's seen the original warriors will be dissapointed in it because theres no way you can remake the warriors and have it end up being better! It might raise awarness of the original though, which could be a good thing.

I for one however would love to see a prequel of the warriors, with the same characters and some others, anyone else with me?

EDIT: Maybe a remake where cyrus doesnt get shot could also be good, the movie could be about the gangs bonding together and taking over the city

I like your idea of making a prequel.There is something similar in the video game,but making a movie prequel would be awesome.We would find out how the Warriors were formed,who entered the gang first,etc.

Cyrus did you not notice your deliberate mistake..... if the film was a prequel Cyrus would still be alive  so maybe it could also go into how cyrus came up with his big idea as well as how all the warriors became Warriors.The more I think of it the more I like the idea of a prequel.
