Around The Year 1986, I was 11 or 12. BTW, WOW!!! 22 Years!!! I saw The Warriors-I Guerrieri della Notte on the Italian Channel "ITALIA 1", 22 Years Ago!!! Believe me, I Remember Very Well!
Thanks for what you said about Italy and Europe. ;)
... and Yeah, Italy is One of the Beautiful Country in The World!!!
Even if I Love The States and New York City, too!!!
I'm from Palermo and, I think you know, here in Palermo-Sicily-Italy there were a sorta Gangs... but there still is a "Thing". If you know what I mean.

Hey flashman, and you?
Where are you from?
Any Gang there, in the Past or Today?

I live in the state of Kentucky now...near Lexington, but I grew up in Hamilton, Ohio. Yes, there were local high school gangs and they called them selves the "Jocks" and the "Heads"...the "Jocks" were the athletic types and the "Heads" were the against the establishment types. They would meet after school every now and then for a rumble with chains, knifes, and sticks. Hamilton High School was the biggest high school in America in the late 70's and early 80's with around 3500 students. Also, there was a local motorcycle gang called the "Iron Horsemen" and they were quite ruthless. I remember hearing a story of how they busted one of their members out of a local jail..the police were afraid of them.

I bet that was a real treat when you got to watch The Warriors for the first time Swan...I had to wait for about 6 or 7 year after the movie came out to finally watch it in around 1985 or 1986 and it made the hair stand up on the back of my head to finally get to watch it. Did you have to wait a while before you got to watch the movie? I mean did you know about it for a while before seeing it? I bought the soundtrack album in 1979 and it is a treasure.

Yes, it is really nice to make friends from such interesting places and share a common interest...best to you Swan and thanks for all of the interesting info you share with the forum on a regular basis....you are a true Warrior Swan.

WOW!!! Thanks flashman... and Best to you too!!! ;)

You know, The Warriors didn't come out in Italy in 1979. It did in 2005 (Turin Film Festival-Ultimate Directo'r Cut)!!! ::) ::) ::)
I was 4 in 1979, so YEAH, in 1986 (when I saw it on TV) it was a Real TREAT!!! I mean, I didn't know anything about Gang Movies... and The Warriors Gave me the BEST BASIS Possible!!!
Then (I think anyway they First played it in 1982), Year after Year they re-played it on TV (Never in Prime Time)... so I recorded a Videotape... I bought the DVD... The Soundtrack CD... etc... and I saw it on Theater in 2006 (Another Special "Come Out")... till Today.
I'd have loved to be, for istance, 15 in 1979 and above all to live in USA!!! :D 8)

The U.S. has changed so much since 1979...some ways better some ways worse, but mostly for the better. 1979 was only 5-6 years from the end of the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War did a lot to harden youth in America. Millions of American 18-26 year olds were drafted or volunteered to serve in the Vietnam War. Over 500,000 came home wounded and almost 60,000 came home in body bags.

America was also going through some very tough times economically. Interest rates on home loans were around 17-18% or more...now they are around 6-7% and there was a lot of unemployment. The future prospects for many of America's youth wasn't too nice. The hope of obtaining the American Dream was very poor for many.

I think that is where you get the toughness of American society during the 1970's and that is why I think the guys that portray the Warriors mostly look over 18 years old...maybe in their early twenties.
