If there's one show I remember for being down right and dirty and awesome at the same time, it had to be Double Dare, the first show to combine Q and A sesisons with physical challenges and slime, yes you heard me slime.
The rules of Double Dare are easy to remember once you hear them, like any kids quiz show it has two teams, both consisiting of four members from families, the families would compete for the most points and earn themselves money, they would have a series of questions and if both families didn't know what happened a physical challenge would ensue, and these were the parts everybody remembers, the challenges were so far out, so crazy, so disgusting, that kids loved it.
I mean I can only name a few challenges off the top of my head
The Human Taco challenge where a member of the team would lie in somehting that resembled a giant taco wrap and then basically cover them in all sorts of stuff that resembled parts of a taco then roll them up, the first to make a human taco won.
The Banana split challenge, this challenge involved a member of the team getting in a giant banana on wheels, another would push the cart and thw other two members would throw things on top to make a human banana split, again very slimy stuff.
The balloon challenges had things like two team members wearing giant foam hands on their heads and the trying to pop balloons filled with jelly or jam, or whatever.
Another I remember consisted of a tam member wearing a hat with a spike on it trying to pop balloons filled with slime.
There was also the salad bowl challenge where a team member would put their head in a bowl and all sorts of stuff would rain down on them I dont even know what all this slime was made out of.
he show would usually end in one big obstical course that involved challenges that were actually wuite hard, and again nuts as hell, the goal was to get the flag at the end of every stage, and the flags were well hiddenmaking the obsticle course the hardest part of the show.
Double Dare was hosted by Mark Summers and give the man credit where creidt is due, he was Obsessive Compulsive and he liked everything clean and symmtrical and he worked on a show that dumped kids, adults and even himself in slime, that my friends is committment.
Double Dare my friends is a kids equivelant of heaven, with it's whacky challenges, it's funny moments, and all inbetween kids would always tune into Nikelodeon and cath it.
